The paper "The Development or Metamorphosis of Information Management in the United Kingdom" is an engrossing example of coursework on management. The information has been defined by the business dictionary as data that is accurate, timely, specific, and organized for a particular purpose or aim. For it to give it its intended meaning and relevance, information must be presented within a specific or particular context that is in line with its content, and as a result, the recipients of the information are able to benefit from increased understanding, which reduces uncertainty. The value of information cannot be overemphasized, and this is due to the fact that it has the capability of affecting behavior, decisions as well as outcomes/ results (Weismann, 2012, p. 6). For instance, a business executive who has been informed that the profits of their organization have decreased in the previous trading period would use the information to influence decisions for the following trading period to avoid an occurrence of the same. The business executive could opt to make reductions on business expenses, increase efforts in marketing so as to increase sales, or make major amendments to the products so as to influence the market. Whichever direction or decision that the executive assumes, it would have been influenced by the information received earlier. However, information is considered rather valueless if upon receipt things do not change but remain as they were before (Powell, 2003, p. 40).  Hutchens (1998, p. 29) states that records provide much-needed information to decision-makers, though such records are also crucial for archival and historical purposes. Records that are not necessarily useful for the process of decision-making are also found in the organization, and lately, costs attributed to records continue to escalate. In spite of this, decision-makers should not be very fast to eliminate such records due to cost because inadequate information could lead to errors made in ignorance of the facts.

Information could be in the form of physical or electronic format including electronic documents, video, audio, paper documents, and data among others (Hemp, 2009).
