Objectives of Operations and Operations Management The objectives of the operations and operations management are – Firstly, to provide adequate service by delivering the goods and services at the right cost, with the right specification, and at the right time.

Secondly, to achieve adequate productivity and resource utilization levels or can state to achieve adequate levels of materials, labor, and machine. Strategic Role and Strategic Planning for Production / Operations The strategic role of operations is that it facilitates the overall business activities starting from the product manufacturing to the delivery which results in profits for the firm. The strategic planning for operations or productions needs to be aligned with other activities of the firm such as marketing, finance, and engineering.

The planning is based o the operational planning of design or facilities and planning for the facility usage. Functions in Production and Operations Management The functions are aligned with the organizational goals and are focused on creating utilities in raw materials with the support of the conversion process.
