Marrying two lines of argument, it would be logical to say that the productivity levels of schools are directly proportional to the output of work of the staff (Caillods, 2009). This means that for schools and other academic institutions to receive higher productivity turn out, they have to put a lot of emphasis on their staffing and the development of staff roles. Avalos (2008) argued that the problem with most staff that does not perform up to expected levels is not because they are not competent to deliver but because they are wrongly placed.

This means that at the recruitment and assignment of specific academic role phases, there ought to be so much work going into them by way of planning. Once planning is effectively done, it is hypothesised that management will be in a better position to identify the right human resource that has the right skills, experience and competences to occupy various academic roles at school X.Based on the background given above, this study is being conducted with the purpose of investigating the extent to which management plan the recruitment of staff and the development of specific academic roles at school X.

The planning that is done by management will be directly linked to the impact that recruitment and development of specific academic roles at school X has on the school at large. To effectively scrutinise the purpose of the study, the following research questions are asked to be a guide and scope to data collection:With the research questions set above serving as a guide to the entire study, it will be used predominantly in data collection for the study. Using an inductive approach to the study, it shall have two major forms of data collection, which are secondary data collection and primary data collection.

With each form of data collection given an equal level of prominence and attention, the secondary data collection shall emphasise on the review of existing literature that is related to the study.
