Extract of sample "Analisys of the Concept of the Glass Ceiling"

The ‘glass ceiling’ concept is in existence to date despite the emergence of laws that forbid discrimination of persons. Companies discriminate against persons but use indirect justification to cover the menace. This ceiling affects women the most, many women in organizations have worked for a long time with the best education qualification with no promotion. Their male counterparts are promoted to the top most powerful positions despite their academic qualifications. This has made many women feel unworthy in society (Purcell, MacArthur, & Samblanet, 2010).

According to Morgado and Tonelli (2014), organizational commitment belief in the psychological state women may lack which includes commitment, emotional attachment, and obligation commitment. Commitment truly differs by gender, commitment in females, for example, is mainly linked to supervision, opportunity development, work-life, and empowerment. Commitment in men is linked to leadership, company image, and reward. This has segregated women from leadership roles since they are never authoritative as far as leadership is concerned. Glass ceiling variables such as beliefs, position stagnation, and promotion opportunity if dealt with will help break the glass ceiling.
