sation of Samsung Group is accompanies by its diversification and is the major player in various business areas, for example, chemicals, entertainment, retail, and finance. The research proposal will focus on the internationalisation of Samsung – a case of investing in Vietnam. Samsung Group is the largest conglomerate in terms of revenue around the world (Samsung, 2015). Internationalisation is defined as the method of enhancing involvement in the global or international operations. The theory on the internationalisation process has leaned to exploit a concept of ‘push-oriented’ theory, with the external movement of companies propelled by few strategic objectives.
To embrace the case of latecomers and newcomers, internationalisation requires being reconsidered as a ‘pull’ method and also involving the ‘push’ method. It is regarded as the several connection of international economy which attracts companies into participation across the national borders, by means of licensing, contracting and other managing relationships (Mathews, 2006). The ‘resource-based view’ of the competitive positions of the companies has been focused to present a more broad view of the achievements or successes of the latecomers and newcomers in their search for the international reach.
From a resource-based viewpoint, what most of the companies have in general is that their globalisation does not rely on the ownership of overpowering domestic assets that can be utilised abroad. Rather, their global expansion/development has been accepted for the exploration of novel resources to support new strategic choices in order to use existing resources (Peng, 2001). The cultural dimension model of Greet Hofstede helps to analyse the culture of a country. As Samsung Group is deeming to invest in Vietnam so, it is important to analyse the culture of Vietnam by means of Hofstede model.
