Organization and Management Organization The term organization is defined as conscious collection of individuals that are joined together in order to attain certain aims as well as objectives (Robbins 5). Organization can be referred to any setting where people are consciously joined together to attain a certain purpose. For example: a school can be recognized as an organization where educationists including students, teachers, headmasters, deans as well as sports and medical staff are brought together under one roof to attain the purpose of increasing the knowledge, skills and ability of the people living in the area where a school is located. A setting is recognized as an organization if it is created with a certain purpose that is unique to the organization. No organization can ever exist until and unless there are people within the organization because these people are responsible for attaining the purpose for which it was created. Lastly these organizations follow a particular structure to help members of the organization in recognizing their roles and tasks. For example: a school comprises of strict structure in which the school is head by the principal and the principals have certain number of supervisors that are answerable to the principle and who ensure that the aims set by the principle are followed by the teachers. The teachers are answerable to the supervisors and the teachers are responsible for ensuring that the students follow the instructions of the teachers in order to attain the aims that were initially constructed by the principle. All these individuals that work for the attainment of the purpose of organization are recognized as managers and these managers are responsible for the performance and the growth of the organization. Aim of Managers All the duties that were highlighted for different individuals of an organization fall in the category of management and management is simply defined as the task of a manager. Management constitutes of supervising different tasks carries out by different members of an organization with the objective of ensuring that these tasks are being carried in an effective and efficient manner and this task of supervising the work of others differentiates an individual holding a managerial position from those who work on non-managerial positions (Fleming 9). When managers are involved in the act of ensuring that others in the organization operate in an efficient manner, they make sure that the best possible outcomes are achieved with the investment of least possible resources. This is mainly because managers have to attain the objectives of the organization with limited resources. When managers are involved in the task of ensuring that jobs are performed in an effective manner, they are bestowed with the responsibility of ensuring that only those activities are being carried out within the organization that will ultimately lead to the achievement of an organizations aims and objectives. For example: the top line managers of a school are there to ensure that the supervisors as well as the teachers operate to ensure that learning as well physical and mental development of students take place. Manager’s Objective In order to attain targets in an effective and efficient manner, managers need to carry out certain functions and these functions are carried out by all managers who work in any kind of organization. These functions are being carried out by every manager operating in the 21st century to continue to benefit their organizations. The first function that a manger needs to conduct is the function of planning. If the managers fail to work out a plan, they will fail to remain focused on the achievement of organizational aims and objectives (Dyck 7). While conducting the planning functions, managers set goals and devise a particular strategy for the attainment of those goals. Once the managers have devised a plan, they need to organize by deciding about what work will be needed to be done to attain the objectives, the people who will be required to conduct those tasks, the decisions that need to be taken and which member of the organization will be reporting to another member of the organization. Once the managers have identified the people who will be working on the tasks, they need to motivate these individuals to work on these tasks by helping them in resolving work related as well as personal issues. The manager’s task completes once they have put the plan to work, organized the tasks, motivated the workers and ensured that the tasks are being carried out as planned and the whether the plan is attaining the desired out come and this job of evaluation is recognized as the controlling function. Relation between Managers and Organizational Success Manager is a manager until an organization exists and an organization exists as long as it has customer, this means that if managers want their organizations to be successful, they need to cater the needs of the customers and ensure that the customers are satisfied. Due to this the manager of an organization is required to perform all his/her roles and functions while keeping the customer’s satisfaction in mind. Customers’ satisfaction is directly dependant on how they are treated by the employees of an organization (Stein 142). If employees of an organization carry out their tasks properly and are able to provide the customers with a high quality product or service, the customers will be satisfied. This means that if managers want their company’s customers to be satisfied, they need to ensure that the employees that are creating and providing goods and services are fit to do their jobs. Employees are considered as fit to perform their jobs if they are motivated, their needs are met and proper amount of training and development is provided to the. The manager’s job is to ensure that the employees of the organization are motivated and are provided with all the necessary trainings required to perform their jobs in an effective and efficient manner. For example: the customers of a school are the parents as well as the students themselves. A school can continue to be successful if more and more students enroll in the school and in order to get more students enrolled, the parents as well as students who are already in the school are benefiting from the school. This is because the existing parents and students will provide a positive view of the school to other parents if their needs are being met. The manager’s duty of a school is to ensure that the right teachers are selected to teach different subjects at the school and ensure that the student is being developed mentally and physically and if these conditions are met, the parents of these students will be satisfied. If managers want to ensure that their organizations are running successfully they have to be active and adaptive to changes in technology. These changes in technology can help managers in ensuring that the work is done in a cost effective manner and the adaption of technological changes will ensure that the returns produced through efficiently and effectively produced goods are higher. If a manager is able to ensure that it has a satisfied customer base and the profits of the company are increasing, the managers will ultimately play a major role in achieving the organization’s aim of increasing the share value of the shareholders. Conclusion An organization is a setting where different individuals are brought together to attain a specific target and managers are the ones who work in organizations to ensure that those working in the organization are operating in an effective and efficient manner to attain organizational aims and objectives. Managers can ensure that the organization’s aims are being achieved in an effective and efficient manner by conducting their roles of planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Managers play a significant role in the success of the organization as they ensure that the customers are satisfied, organization is adopting the changes that will help them in operating in an effective manner and by ensuring that the shareholder’s value is increasing.
