Task Effective leadership Effective leadership is a term, which attracts numerous definitions, however, effective leadership is characterised by three principal pillars. They include vision, communication and judgement. Any effective leader should have a clear vision for the subjects. In addition, effective leadership is attributed to apt communication. Communication is fundamental in such way that it serves as a tool through which leaders expresses their visions (Huges, Richard, Ginnett and Gordon, 26). It is imperative to note that, an effective leader must communicate effectively. More over, a successful leader and consequent leadership are attributed to sound judgement. The aspect of judgement is fundamental since it depicts the strength and weaknesses of a leader and leadership. Essentially, judgement is effortlessly used to determine and gauge the leaders (Huges, et al, 26). Wise and well-informed leaders are known by the extent of wisdom applied in making judgements. This study attributes that, effective leaders can be born, and other can be natured as long as they reflect and practice the fundamental of leadership. For instance, the “Action-Observation –Reflection” (AOR) model explains that acquired leadership is attributable to three aspects, which include action, observation and reflection. A leader expresses the actions extended towards certain situation, the observation made and interpretation of the impacts on other people, and personal reflection on the situation (Huges, et al, 26). Personal reflection or evaluation includes lesions learnt, personal view on doing something in a better way and feeling about the situation at hand and the overall application of experience in implementing a new idea. In summary effective leadership is rooted on the listed pillars. How the lack of congruence among leadership researchers would be resolved or reconciled Effective leadership has attracted numerous researchers who have researched on diverse methodologies and have come up with diverse opinions. These opinions might be either acceptable or unacceptable meaning of an effective leader and consequent leadership. Fundamentally, numerous subjects or topics of study or research do not have one dimension of thinking. This is similar to leadership. It is relatively easy to reconcile the diverse opinion on the effective leadership than resolve the disparities. In essence, lack of congruence of among leadership researchers is irresolvable but reconcilable (Huges, et al, 76). The diverse perceptions and opinions on effective leadership can be reconciled by examining the common character traits an effective leader either must have naturally or acquired. It is comprehensible that, the majority of the world effective leaders acquire their leadership skills and traits and nurture them. This study reveals that, the diverse ideologies on effective leadership can be reconciled through the general acceptance that effective leadership must be attributed to the three principal pillars: Vision, communication and judgement. Besides, the listed pillars other contribute variables for effective leadership may include knowing personal strengths, striving for excellence, persistence, ready to resist, ethical, and lead by example. What will be the specific content of the conference? This study finds that the specific content of the conference will cover the hotly contended subject matter “what is effective leadership”. From the context of study, it is vivid that Perkins does not understand the generally accepted meaning of effective leadership. The search for the answers takes him to the director to published sources in a local university. However, the disparity in thoughts of management scholars on effective leadership compels him to seek the dean of the college of business for further assistance consequently a meeting with the director of the college of Management Centre. Who will be the instructors of the conference? Essentially, the topic of discussion is controversial, and the conference instructors must be well informed. This study expects the director from the management centre together with assistant directors to grace the conference as instructors. It is imperative e to note that, the centre for management, deals which the fundamental aspects of leadership in a wider perspective and they remain critical in this conference. The director for management is expected to give a vivid direction and background information on the basics of effective leadership and effective leaders. What will be the conference’s duration? The duration of the conference can be approximated in relation to the magnitude of the subject matter under discussion. It is factual that, the matter “effective leadership” is likely to elicit sharp differences in opinions due to the diverse perceptions. The conference is likely to take a minimum of one day to a maximum of five days depending on the number of instructors and their difference in ideology. How can the conference’s effectiveness be evaluated? Evaluation of the conference’s effectiveness is fundamental because it serves as a parameter through which, the level of achieving the conference’s objectives is measured (Huges, et al, and 126). The subject matter of this conference carries a considerable weight since its results are intended to helping the State Division of Human Services in improving the morale of workers and consequent achievement of efficiency. Essentially the conference should be evaluated by keeping the evaluation questions sort and simple. Such questions invite thoughtful responses at the tail end of the meeting. It is imperative to note that, this process should encourage thoughtful responses and lengthy evaluation, which might diminish the quality of the participant feedback, should be avoided (Huges, et al, 136). In addition, the evaluation exercise should be set in such a way that, a process is created. This process allows wholly participants involvement and provides a forum of surfacing their greatest concerns on the subject matter. More over, the evaluation process should allow collection of feedback on the questions asked. Then harmonization of the feedback will reflect the general perception of the participants on the subject matter. What policies should the State Division of human Services adopt regarding who the conference participants are and how they should be selected? How can these policies be best implemented? The state division of human services should adopt the contract policy and information manual to select the conference participants. The participants should apply, and the application forms should be used to determine those who qualify (Huges, et al, 156). This policy can be well implemented if the criterion suggested is followed to the later.
