Self Assessment Reflection Summary The recruitment process of any organisation requires the consideration of designating individuals according to their skills and experiences; however, not all the employees’ posses the same management skills. Therefore, self assessment method is invented to determine the differences in personality traits, habits, inclinations, decision making skills, time management and behavioural attributes, to ascertain how employees tackle problems, work under pressure and cooperate with co-workers. This method enables the employer to make a diverse group of individuals, who can work together as a team by covering the deficiency of other team members. It also determines individuals about their strengths and limitations in specific areas. It acts as a reflective evaluation for one, which is beneficial in recognition and making respective changes accordingly. 1a. Through the questioner of procrastinator and deliberate decision- maker, I came across with the knowledge that I have a blended style of decision making and I have emotional stability and conscientiousness. I do not rush myself especially in rational decisions. Although, I do rush in personal matters like eating, walking and reaching on time, but I take time for decisions so I can assess the pros and cons of it. Thus, with the help of rational model I can change my habit of occasional rash decision making as well. Delaying or postponing tasks on hand increases work stress and hence, one regrets on the wasted time which cannot be turned back. I found that I tend to put tasks in pending and realize about the delay as well, but none practical approach was adopted by me to change the habit of postponing. Through the score of 28, I came to realize that this habit can prevail and can become a reason of regret for me in future. Therefore, I intend to change this habit of delaying tasks and put it on the top of my new-year resolution list .However, it sometimes helps me in making clear decisions after analysing all the aspects. The score of my emotional intelligence discovered that I might perform better in jobs of sale and management, where targets are achieved through interpersonal skills and working in team describes one’s ability to manage work and differences effectively. Though, EI is genetically coded, but flexibility to accept differences can make one more comfortable with others either at work or in personal life. 1b. The reward determining grid indicated that I am motivated through material rewards and would prefer to work in non challenging environments. It made me realize the absence of internal motivation without reward to achieve results. Thus, it enabled me to realize my materialistic approach to work for physical means only. The ideal reward attaining situation was marked by me, but actual work conditions and terms differ from the checked answers. Therefore, the score proves to show my greatest valued reward in ideal conditions, which do not describe my motivation mean. My score puts me in the category of Type A, who are impatient, in a rush to get things done by them-self and by others as well, obsessed with figures, not good team players, can hardly wait for anything or things which take time, can do multi tasking, but I do not possess impatience to get over with tasks to this extreme. I do feel a sense of obligation towards the tasks, but do not rush into anything. I am a social person and do not appreciate jobs where people are isolated. In Preferred organisational structure, my score indicates that I do not have any particular preferred structure. Although, the most valued rewards show that people do have preferences while choosing organisations to work with. 2. My two strengths are emotional stability and conscientiousness. I prefer to be assigned fewer tasks, which I fully take responsibility to accomplish till the end. I have a focused approach; therefore, I tend to grasp information, training and cues to learn new concepts and skills. At school I keep my goals few, but I fulfil them with responsibility and at work I do my best to fully accomplish tasks on hand. Consequently, I work in a calm manner do not like to fuss over things and enthusiastically finish tasks without reminders or penalties. 3a. I need to learn to do my chores at time despite of procrastinating them. I tend to put my personal tasks in pending and the delay causes frustration and mental anguish in the end. Therefore, this habit can lead to numerous management difficulties in later years. 3b. I have to adapt time management skills and need to implement them in my personal schedule initially. When I’ll learn and be persistent in maintaining my personal tasks on time, it will lead to a permanent habit of punctuality. One preventive measure against procrastination is rigid deadlines. Moreover, strong will power against postponing instincts will also be beneficial in overcoming this limitation. 3c. I would have to decrease my relaxation time, television time, resist the temptation of will or desires, less family time and fewer naps and have to reduce my social circle. This will bring positive time keeping and task oriented habits in me. On the other hand, I would get less time to spend socially. I have a career oriented approach. Thus, my self assessment results coincide with my career aspirations. My goals are clearly indicated in organisational structure grid, where I can be fit into both organic and mechanistic structure of organisation. I find myself in the second quartile of building and leading a team. Thus, this proves that I have a clear mindset about career objectives. 5. This self assessment has enabled me to learn hidden meanings behind our reactions and responses. Thus, I have learnt that which trait invokes us to form different responses? I have identified many optimistic and pessimistic attributes of my personality and have recognized my shortcomings in different areas of management as well. I have a keen desire to overcome these limitations and make my personal and career life a stable example of success. Bottom of Form Read More
