The Central Evaluation Unit   Analyzing and Evaluating the Processing of New Applications at the CEUPU The process map for new applications revolves around determining the efficacy and impact of the activities of the firm with respect to their objectives. In that sense, a process map for new applications should be clearly structured in order to provide support to the assessment activities of offices and departments. The cycle time for the application process can be calculated in various ways. First and foremost, it can be calculated through considering the number of operations running in relation to the available personnel (Chopra, Anupindi, Deshmukh, Van Mieghem, & Zemel, 2005, p. 29). Through measuring the effectiveness of the new applications at the CEUPU, it becomes easy to calculate the cycle time for the applications process. What is more, comparing the application process with other different units can be a comparable way of doing the calculations. The processing of an application involves several tasks and operations and so a large number of people are usually involved in the long run. Without doubt, the processing of applications is a prolonged course of action that requires watchful examination by several checkers taught to develop assessments (McFarlan & Delacey, 2003, p. 315). In order to calculate the number of people involved in the processing of an application, it is worth taking a look at some essential elements. To begin with, it is undeniable that a unit deals with roughly over 200 applications on a weekly basis. Reflecting on this point of view, several tasks have to be completed by different employees such as clerks, secretaries, and managers, for the process to run smoothly in due course. What this means is that the number the number of people involved in the process will be determined by the type of execution required in the system. More than 10 members of staff can be helpful towards running the entire procedure. However, it is worth noting that the increased number of people available to run the process may bring confusion when it comes to the allocating of duties. Therefore, it is advised when calculating the number of people involved in the process to consider a small number of people in order to ensure effectiveness is given the first priority. Citing on the fact that the entire processing unit is programmed to perform various tasks, it may be difficult to locate an individual file. Worth mentioning, for to be in position to locate an individual file, several calculations and requirements must be met accordingly. In one way or the other, the central processing unit is designed in such a way that it executes only the programmed tasks (Schuler, Budhwar & Florkowski, 2002, p. 48). With the idea of programming the system, it is unquestionable that the performing other tasks may require extra programming. In that sense, it is difficult to locate an individual file since this is not part of the operations made to be completed by the system. From the above kind of discussion, it should be agreed that problems are eminent in any kind of engineering processes and operations, and the nature of the solutions adopted is what defines the appropriateness of the engineering design and how possible it shall promote development. This means that there should be promotion of methods in problem solving during the process and engineering project. Any kind of engineering design approaches and processes should hence been able to include competently organized conceptual designs, and embodiment designs which come up with detailed analysis (Chopra, Anupindi, Deshmukh, Van Mieghem, & Zemel, 2005, p. 57). So as to avoid proliferation of problems, the process design should be ambiguous as well as iterative. Therefore, the need for having open-ended means of solving problems is necessary. However, though such processes of problem solving might not be having any form of conceptual designs, and detailed designs, they should be competently handled all the same. The Problems of the CEUPU Process Just like any other process, the CEUPU process has several problems. To begin, the processing of applications is long procedure that calls for vigilant analysis by checkers who are skilled to perform assessments. This is an implication that the absence of personnel in the entire process results to damage (Schuler, Budhwar & Florkowski, 2002, p. 53). There is increased delay in the process. This is evident through the fact that all applications reaching the unit must be put in tray. Based on this point of view, the process is faced with the challenge of queuing documents, and by so doing creating interruptions in the manner activities are made to be executed in the organization. The process must be provided with a certain coding in each identifier for procedures to be executed accordingly. This is a major challenge since whenever the unique codes for each identifier are not provided; the entire process does not function as it is made to operate. The CEUPU process does not engage the use of engineering process designs (McFarlan & Delacey, 2003, p. 329). The failure to employ engineering process designs implies that solving all kinds of open-ended kind problems is a challenge. Problem solving is something which appears to come up with a number of definitions. For instance, creativity should be employed towards any form of free-thinking and similar views in solving problems within the CEUPU process. Suggestions to Improve Veronique’s Process It must be noted that Veronique’s Process is not as bad as one may think. However, several suggestions are available to make the process worth its design. There is the need to use more sophisticated approaches for visualization and production pictorial representations (Smith & Fingar, 2003, p. 19). Once combined with the features of the accumulated data, it becomes easy to monitor the manner through which her process will operate and become valuable. Then again, the OLAP technique can effectively be used in the analysis of databases to promote the running of the processes. It is worth understanding that this technique is capable of analyzing simple data, comparing complex information, and also reflecting the existing trends (Schuler, Budhwar & Florkowski, 2002, p. 59). The use of this technique can help to filter data and make appropriate reflections for her process. For the sector, there has been the need of a design or approach capable of classifying any available data, clustering the data, finding any associations and relations between the data items and also capable of analyzing the same data. Today, every kind of new problem requires a problem-specific technique in analyzing the data. Towards change, it is necessary for her to identify all available opportunities and how the procedure can be appropriately done for the benefit of the process. Once the right decisions have been made from the acquired technique, it becomes possible to solve the faced problems in the entire operation. With a lot of numeric data stored in databases, it is necessary to prepare the whole process, classify, and associate it. The specific desired elements are clustered and then analyzed through algorithmic approaches. Association rules should also be maintained during the entire process. For further scope concerning the process, she should examine specific data available and use visualization techniques and algorithms to understand the performance of the process at large. When offering a persuasive suggestion to a problem, it is necessary to analyze the nature of the problem to the people, its cause and how it can be solved. Generally, we have no universal order or chronology to offer persuasive suggestions to a problem (McFarlan & Delacey, 2003, p. 337). The world is full of problems and hardships. These problems are natural, psychological or physical. Most of the problems are caused by man against his fellow man. To solve such problems, Veronique can apply persuasive thinking or scientific solution depending on the nature of the problem and the people affected by it. In order to effectively solve the problem and keep other forms of problems at bay with different projects and engineering projects, the planning and ‘looking back’ steps should be essential since they help in coming up with appropriate decisions and skills which shall improve the process and address any kind of problems which might be faced. The major processes which have been noted to have impact in problem solving have been defined. In solving any given problem, there should be the recognition of the problem which is being faced within the engineering problem, and why the solution to the given problem is needed, come up with means of defining the exact problem which is being faced (Smith & Fingar, 2003, p. 28). This brings about the necessary means which shall help in defining the exact problem which is being faced. After that, the surveyors and experts should be required to sufficiently collect the necessary information which addresses the problem head on. This should be followed by synthesizing and ideating the necessary measures which shall result in problem solving process. Analysis and optimizing should also be conducted as a very important step in the process. Bibliography Chopra, S., Anupindi, R., Deshmukh, S.D., Van Mieghem, J.A. and Zemel, E.
