This assessment should seek to know which hazards will require employees to wear personal protective equipment. The standards go ahead to explain the responsibilities or the actions that the employer should take in case hazards are present. The employer in the above case is supposed to offer each affected employee protective equipment and in this case for respiratory protection. This is to protect them from harmful fumes, gases and vapors among others (OSHA, 2010). Employers are to communicate the reasons for their decisions to employees.

The right equipment for an individual employees should be selected depending on the hazard level while being careful not to use defective ones. For the employer to maintain this kind of protection they are required to have a respiratory protection program in place (OSHA, 2010). To verify the performance of the required assessment, the employer writes a certification regarding the specific workplace assessed.
