Qualities an Effective Service Manager Should Posses Questions: Some questions that should be part of the questionnaire while interviewing the candidate(s) for the required post are as follows; 1. In your opinion what are the most important characteristics and abilities a successful person must possess How would you rank yourself on such a scale 2. If you team members neither coordinate there schedules nor perform their task and duties properly then what corrective actions would you take 3. Things that frustrate you the most How do you usually cope with them 4.

Any challenge or obstacle that you might have faced How did you manage it How the experience did affected your personality or ability of stress management situations 5. What are the kinds of things that you feel the most confident in performing/doing 6. What is Creativity In your whole work experience, what specific job you did that you consider truly something creative 7. If you got another job with a salary more than our company is paying you, what would be your instant decision 8. How do you get people, who do not want to work, together to have consensus on a common approach to any problem 9.

What is the first thought that would come into your mind to such a statement "Winning isn't everything." Other expected Traits: The candidate should have general management skill as well as knowledge about his/ her area of product or service. He should have a sound background with considerable experience that matches the designation for which he is being recruited for. The candidate should have a "positive" attitude. They should have; A strong desire to remain a member of the organization. A strong belief in and acceptance of, the values and goals of the organization.

A readiness to exert considerable effort on behalf of the organization. The person should have good communication skills and should pose and present himself in a very decent and sophisticated manner. In a service organization, tone of communication (Gareth & Charles, 2005), the managers' skills of presenting himself and the looks do matter a lot. The candidate should prove himself to posses these through his dressing and communication style. He is not only supposed to be a manager due to the hierarchical stance but should be able to socialize well with his/her department.

He should have the abilities and knowledge to be an important part of the organization. The person is expected to demonstrate the set of skills that will enable him in managing the local workforce along with managing and restricting the amount of knowledge to be transmitted through the formal as well a the informal (Gareth & Charles, 2005) organization (or even grapevine). The person is expected to be committed to whatever tasks or project(s) he has been assigned to. In organizations today, and especially for the service industry, the product service bundle needs to be unique from customers' point of view to sell.

Therefore, the recruit should be versatile enough and should have a dynamic and adaptive personality and nature.
