In addition, this web site is very useful for those who are managing patient and doctor facing websites, pharmaceutical industry corporate intranets, healthcare-focused publications and health sector information services. In this report, a detailed usability assessment has been performed on this web site to determine the effectiveness of this web site. The basic purpose of this assessment is to decide whether this web site complies with the usability principles or not. This report applied the web site usability checklist, which contains all the important aspects of a web site.

The results of this analysis show that the web site complies with most of the website development principles. However, it only missed a few aspects. Though, the web site contains the majority of features that a web site must contain but it can be made more improved by adding some missing aspects. Introduction This report presents a detailed usability assessment of a healthcare related website. For this purpose, the web site is selected as: http://www.reutershealt.com. Basically, the usability is a combination of rules, regulations and guidelines that tell software developers that how well users can use and learn their developed products to attain their goals.

In addition, it also tells them how pleased users are with that development process.Additionally, the basic purpose of applying these usability principles throughout the web/software development is to determine the quality of a user's practice while using and communicating with a web site or software application. Normally, these principles are applied to websites, mobile technologies, software applications and any user-operated device (Usability.Gov, 2013; Nielsen, 2012; Singh & Wesson, 2009).

This report takes into consideration the implementation of these principles on a healthcare web site. These principles will be applied to this web site in order to determine the effectiveness of the web site. Method For the assessment of this web site, the selected method is 25-point usability checklist. This is a simple and straightforward method for the assessment of a web site design (Usability.Gov, 2013). The implementation of this method is provided in the appendix of this report. Results The results of this analysis show that the selected web site complies with the majority of principles given in the checklist.

This web site is easy to use and learn for its users. The web site contains the majority of features which are given in the list. The percentage of the presence of these features is given in the below given graph. The web site contains 80% of the accessibility features. In addition, it complies with identity and navigation aspects completely. However, it contains 70% of contents aspects. So this aspects of the web site needs more improvements. The web site needs a little more improvements which have been suggested in the appendix.

Discussion Without a web site is a most important tool for providing business information. Hence, it works as a very useful marketing tool as a business directly interacts with the customers through this portal. In order to attain the maximum usefulness of a web site, it should be developed by keeping in mind all the usability related aspects. This analysis shows that this web site is user-friendly and provides all the information in an effective manner. However, the content section of the web site lacks some features that need to be integrated in order to make this web site more attractive.
