Polluting the environment and storm water run off from construction industries leads to great penalties starting from $4 million. Every construction industry emitting carbon or polluting the environment have to pay for every kilogram of carbon pollution in the region. In general, the country’s laws and regulations largely affect a company’s decisions on sustainability due to the penalties incurred from environmental pollution. On the other hand, the Indian construction Industry has been reported to be one of the speediest moving industries in the country. Due to its fast rate growth, it has sustained a gross built up area increase of up to 10% per year. The demand for more housing, expansion of market and retail areas, and commercial buildings are all on the rise. This has been influenced by the increase in per capita income in the country. In addition, the rise in standard of living has further empowered the construction industry in the country. Sustainability in India is clearly a key aspect for any construction company. A sustainable company in the country has creates room for trust among many customers and agencies. This is an important aspect in that the company’s reputation is increased and that the company incurs less losses. Margin profits for a sustainable company in the country’s construction industry are always on the increase. In essence, sustainability in the country is very important in meeting business goals. India’s laws and regulations are a key aspect in the country’s stakeholder decision on sustainability. Among the country’s laws is that environmental pollution either by air, chemicals or deforestation leads into huge penalties. In essence, Indian government has no room for wandering construction builders. Furthermore, the country has employed heavy penalties for companies that do not adhere to the require health and safety needs for the industry. These penalties have been great sustainability influential factors to the country’s industry stakeholders. The construction sector has a number of significant opportunities that make a widely recognized industry. Among the unique opportunities in the sector is the availability of ready to fund in investors. This based on the fact that the benefits in the industry are usually very high. This makes a perfect business area for most investors. In addition, a key opportunity in the industry is the ability to conduct international construction activities all around the globe. This provides a great room for more profits and innovation. The industry is clearly at best situated in a way to enhance its innovation opportunities such as improvising most its activities to include technology. Technology advancement is a great opportunity there for grab in ensuring that the industry has more room for producing quality output. However, there are a considerable set of challenges in the industry. Compliance with government regulations on environmental pollution is a great challenge. Companies incur great losses due to the emissions they release in their construction activities. Keeping in touch with all technological advancements has further been a challenge in the sector in that the speedy is so high and requires a lot of resources for a technology to be well implemented.
