Hereby, the objective of the paper will focus on the event management strategy for the organisation of “World Day against Child Labour” on 12th June, 2012. In this context, the management of the program will involve the concept of the event along with its intention to gather organisations for the event. The paper will also involve a brief description of the target group for whom the event will be held along with the estimated budget required, execution strategies and required marketing plan with the professional partners and sub-contractors. Concept of the Event The observation of “World Day against Child Labour” was commenced by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in the year 2002 as a strong movement against the global extension of child labour. However, the accomplishment against this vulnerable issue initially took place through the acceptance of Convention No. 182 by ILO in 1999. Following this adoption, ILO also announced the “World Day against Child Labour” as 12th day of June each year by 2002 which was also consolidated with the annual consensus concentrated upon the elimination of child labour including the working children below the age of 15 years. According to the current scenario that has been acknowledged by ILO, more than 215 millions of children all around the world are victim to this vulnerable issue of child labour which certainly require adequate attention from the major international bodies (United Nations, 2010). The abolition with regards to the child labour was one of the necessary steps that have been taken at the foundation of ILO in the year 1919. ILO has also considered the minimum age of being employed for a child to be his/her age after completing the compulsory schooling which have been pronounced in the Convention No. 138. To be precise, children at work must be more than 15years of age; however, light work according to the capability of the child can be allocated to the children aged between 13 to 15 years. Nevertheless, it is worth mentioning that any hazardous work which may have a severe impact on the health should engage only the children above the age of 18 years (ILO/IPEC-SIMPOC, Geneva, 2007). The emerging scenario of the child labour has been regarded as one of the most embarrassing situations in this global world of development. With regards to the prevention step against the child labour, ILO has taken numerous initiatives with the assistance of different concerned organisations such as United Nations Convention, and International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour among others (ILO/IPEC-SIMPOC, Geneva, 2007). The figure estimated by ILO indicates that more than 15 millions of child workers amongst the total numbers of child labour victims are involved with risky and harmful works which certainly depicts a severe condition of the working environment (United Nations, 2010). Emphasising on its commitment to eliminate the Worst Form of Child Labour within the year 2016, International Labour Organisation (ILO) has undertaken several strategies towards this hazardous situation which includes generating increasing awareness amid the world societies and the corporate environment (United Nations, 2010). Hence, the “World Day against Child Labour” can be regarded as an important event to encourage the world from excluding the activities which encourage children to be involved in hazardous working conditions or such employments which do not meet their requirement of health and education. In this regards, the objectives for this event that need to be in practice for this world day can be identified as the generation of understanding and discussion regarding the following aspects: Universal endorsement of the ILO Convention on employing child into work National policies and events to ensure effectual development in the abolition of engage child labour Overall action that would be helpful for further steps against child labour (United Nations, 2010) Target Group of the Event The major target group of the event are the young generation as well as the corporate employers, who are identified to possess the sole energy to create revolution against the issue. As well as, the government representatives along with the different Non-Government Organisations (NGO) which need to take initiatives against child labour can also be regarded as the target group of the event also fall within the purview of the target group. The “World Day against Child Labour” 2012 will be celebrated on 12th June. The governments, civil societies along with the organisational employers will also essentially be a part of the event. The involvement of various organisations along with the students and political leaders are one of the essential participants of the event. Estimated Budget The financial plan is one of the crucial parts for an event management, which estimate the forecast of revenue and expenditure to be incurred while implementing the event. The budget estimation of event management constructs a form of the programs that contain multiple events or particular phases for an event management including speeches, lunch/dinner, award ceremony, and others. The budget plan for the planned event hereby will take into concern the infrastructural arrangements, along with the distribution of awards for the competitive programs involving children and refreshment of providing lunch, teas, coffees and snacks, rental of the hall, and security expenses among others. Notably, for this event a total amount of US$ 20,000 will be adequate to satisfy the requirements. Execution Strategy The execution strategy of the event is categorized in different divisions for the organisation of “World Day against Child Labour”. The management group will be divided into various divisions with specified responsibilities of the program for instance, a separate team will be developed to look after the security issues, one team will undertake measures for decorating and contacting the participants to invite them for the event, and similarly a set of professionals will be engaged to look after the process of recreation including award ceremonies, speeches and cultural programs. The prosecution of the program is also an important part for the event and will also need to be upheld by specialised management personnel. The execution strategy of the event will provide due significance towards the scheduling of the programs along with the reward distribution and refreshment timings, managing the staffs and the other members to execute the operation in an efficient way. Professional Partners and Sub-contractors On the eve of one of the special days such as the “World Day against Child Labour” 2012, the presence of the professional partners along with the local sub-contractors in the society or area can be regarded as highly crucial. The presence of the government representatives, professionals along with the local administrative personnel should be present to take initial steps towards the abolition of child labour. To deal with such vibrant and elegant group of participants and thus to manage the entire process efficiently a group of professionals from the security department of the county, along with hospitality industry professionals will be required. Hereby, the professional partners will be the most efficient hospitality group of UK and the security department of the county region. In the similar concern, the sub-contractors for the event can be recognised as the schools and other non-governmental organisations which have already confirmed participation or intend to participate in the program. Marketing Plan The marketing plan for the event of “World Day against Child Labour” 2012 will involve the different types of marketing activities taking into concern the media options available for advertising. In this present marketing scenario, there are various types of marketing promotion sources available including the internet, television as well as radio. The advanced marketing strategies to be implemented for the purpose of this event involve the e-marketing concepts, i.e. taking the virtues of internet to reach the intended target groups. Conclusion The initial step of ILO with regards to the issue of child labour is highly obliged to eliminate the child labourers from the world and thus contribute towards a better sustainable growth of the world economy. This report presents a comprehensive understanding regarding the organisation of the event planned by ILO as the “World Day against Child Labour” to be held on 12th June 2012. The target group of the event will majorly focus on the children of the local society engaging the governments, the various organisations, and employers with the intention to generate their awareness regarding the issue.
