? Organizational Behavior Organizational behavior entails the study of people and their conduct within a social setting. These social setting may include workplaces, organized social structures like clubs and any other social context. This discipline comprises of other academic fields, which include psychology, management, sociology, anthropology, and communication. The interrelationship of these independent disciplines constitutes organizational behavior. As one of the elemental disciplines making up organizational behavior, psychology involves the scientific study of individuals’ minds by studying their mode of social conduct (Wayne, 2010 p.129). Psychology aims at establishing an understanding of individuals within a social context. It entails the major concepts of human behavior like emotions, perception, personality, and interpersonal relationships. One can comprehend that this aspect of psychology gives organizational behavior its’ typical characteristics. It is psychology that brings about the study and application of knowledge on how individuals and groups act within any given social setting. Apart from understanding individuals, organization behavior also analyses the concept of leadership in organizations. It highlights the typical characteristics of ideal leaders based on their personality and behavior. Organizational Behavior achieves its objective of understanding individuals with self-assessment inventories. It is through these inventories that individuals get to know their psychological and sociological make-up. STEP 1 Part I “What about Me” Upon filling the self-assessment inventory, I discovered a lot concerning my psychological concepts. I am equipped with an entrepreneurial personality, backed up with versatility, individuality, and innovation. Since personality defines an individual’s success when it comes to social relations, these aspects puts me in a strategic position of achieving my dream careers. My values comprise the essential virtues necessary in developing good interpersonal relationship. I learned that I possess some of the requisite characteristics of a leader, which include autonomy, affiliation, achievement, and power. I learned that I am a straightforward person without procrastination in technical duties. My personality assessment results define me as being emotionally intelligent, and socially responsive. My emotional intelligence allows me to accurately understand and express emotions effectively. My social responsiveness makes me excel in interpersonal and social relationships. On combining these personality traits, I stand a chance of making a successful entrepreneur. Part II “Working with Others” Individuals with different personality traits gather up to make organizations. These individuals may be rooting from diverse social backgrounds. Someone’s social background determines most part of his personality. Therefore, I acknowledge the fact that in any given social setting, one meets people from diverse backgrounds who should work together as one community. This brings up the issue of working with others within the same social setting. My assessment sheet shows that I am good at communication (Edward, 2009 p.82). This entails both my speaking and listening skills. I am a good public speaker as well as well as an attentive listener. On the aspect of leading others, I learned that many could trust me. I also have the capability of coordinating task activities by being able to articulate matching individuals into work structures. I have a manipulative personality. I can persuade other members of a society to adopt my convictions and principles. When I encounter individuals with opposing beliefs, I accommodate their views and opinions. In a case where we demonstrate conflicting ideas with my colloquies, I am always ready to reach a compromise. All these traits help me to predict my outcome when working with individuals from a diverse background. I have learned that I can build good professional relationships with my colleagues in any social setting. Part III “Life in Organizations” All social settings are uniquely defined by the organizational structure in place. On the other hand, organizational structures refers to the manner in which an organization arranger its human resources in a manner likely to achieve that organization’s objectives. Organizational structure defines the pictorial representation of how the different individuals within an organization relates professionally. It creates a mechanism of creating a functional system of connecting all the personnel at all levels within a company (David & Andrzeg, 2010 p.90). Therefore, life within an organization is defined by the structure practiced within that setting. Some structures, which follows a strict interaction guidelines are said to have formal structures while others, which allows close personal interactions among the workforce, is referred to as an informal structure. With regard to the assessment findings, I learned that I might have difficulties working within an organization with a formal structure. I prefer informal structured social settings because of my humanistic and flexible personality. I would comfortably work within a social setting that permits closer interactions with all members of that society. In addition, I am not good when it comes to the aspect of change. I usually experience stress whenever a change is introduced along the course of my duties. Therefore, I might experience some little social hitches with regard to the organizational structure found in my subject-working environment. STEP 2 From basic definitions, organizational behavior provides an avenue to which individuals can be understood through the study of their personality and behavior patterns. It is only after understanding peoples that one in able to relate and manage them. Based on the mere fact that organizations comprise of individuals from diverse background, one has to possess that requisite personality traits if he/she is to succeed in social relationships. After evaluation all the data contained in the assessment papers, I can confidently conclude that I am not good in working under supervision. This is illustrated on the life in organization part of the assessment. I possess the required traits and behavior pattern to make a good entrepreneur. This test unearthed my expected strengths and weaknesses in the context of relationship in a social setting. It will help me to improve on the area of learning to work in different social structures. STEP 3 The biblical scripture asserts the importance of understanding ourselves as individuals before starting to understand other members of the society. It highlights the importance of having to acknowledge one’s abilities and weaknesses before rolling out to associate with the other people in this world. The Scripture also advocates for the application of one’s gifts into helping the community. Our beliefs also form an inherent part of our day-to-day encounters with fellow human beings. Therefore, the Bible encourages the adoption of positive and moral beliefs that can measure up to the public’s expectations. According to Christian teachings, one is expected to learn the skills and techniques of achieving exemplary social relationships with others. In the context of organizational behavior, I learned the importance of employing one’s strengths in helping to form functional spiritually healthy social relationships (John, 2010 p.66). Perfect social undertakings start with the aspect of self-awareness. One has to learn of his personality to know when and how to adjust to different social settings. It also helps someone to consider working on his/her weak areas in order to attain the required social relationship level. These Christian teaching helps me to understand the need of establishing good relationship with all members of the society with their social status notwithstanding. In workplaces, morally accepted behavior patterns increases the chances of someone’s success. The scripture also acknowledges that we have unique personal characteristics and God meant that it to be so. It encourages the use of these unique traits for the purpose we were meant to be. Those who are good in communicating should put their gift into good use within any given social setting. On the aspect of relating with others, the scripture tells us that we should learn to control our emotions and impulses. The Christian teachings act as a standard to measure our diversion from the ideal behavior. It highlights the concept that an individual can use or abuse his/her unique personality traits depending on the situation he/she is in. Therefore, even if we are proud of our uniqueness, we should be careful not to allow our traits to affect our relations with others in a negative way (John, 2010 p.45). The gospel also acknowledges the fact that for human beings to start understanding others, they must start with recognizing the role played by personality traits in defining an individual’s behavior. Sinful or immoral act are brought up by the need to satisfy our desires, which are determined by our personality. Given the fact our personalities can be corrupted by sin, it becomes essential to learn how to prevent this. The bible serves as a perfect tool to provide guidance on how to live an upright life.
