This population is an indication of 16% increase since the year 2000. The growth rate in this city has been cited to be high and San Antonio is ranked among the top ten in terms of growth in the last decade. The location of this city is towards the South west of the US. It is notable that, the city is attributed to features of other cities in the western urban, which include the sparsely populated places and a relatively low-density rate within the outskirts of the city. The climate of the City of San Antonio has an intermediary humid subtropical weather. During summer, the city experiences a relatively hot weather and during winter, the climate is mild and cold, especially at night. Consider the following image that indicates a section of the city of Antonio. The city covers an area size of 1, 205.4 km2 and land of 1,193.7km2. In addition, the city has 5.78 square miles of water. In terms of supply of water, the city has been in need of water for expansion purposes and can only acquire this commodity by buying rights from the farmers (Thompson and Browne, 27) Courtesy of Aniol, Claude B. San Antonio, City of Missions. New York: Hastings House, 2012. Print. Population Pattern Consider the table below, which indicates the Race percentage Hispanic 46.1 Non-Hispanic Asian 49.0 Non-Hispanic Asian/pacific Islander 38.3 Non-Hispanic American Indian/ Alaska Native 26.5% Courtesy of A variety of data and indices regarding racial/ethnic/income class characteristics and separation http://www.diversitydata.org/Data/Rankings/Show.aspx?ind=163&sortby=Name Employment and job opportunities Like any other fast developing city with a relatively higher growth rate, the employment opportunities in most cases take an assorted trend due to the numerous dynamics that exists. For instance, the growing population of professionals both the youth and the experienced age of between 38 to 55years calls fro more job positions in both the formal and informal sectors. The employment opportunities in the City of San Antonio are pooled from both the private and public sectors. For instance, the job opportunities boost rose to 2.6% this year and the unemployment rate reducing to the minimum of the 4.6%. This paper traces job opportunities growth rate of the City of Antonio to the year 2001, when the City had 995685 employees, which is 0.698% of the entire US total employments. The trend in employments has been increasing and as at 2012, the city had 1234928employment positions 0.79% of the entire US employment opportunities. Between 2001 and 2007, San Antonio has had a 15.9% increase in its total employments. However, this reduced to 2.3% between 2007 and 2010, and rose again by 2.4 % between 2010 and 2012. The positive trend in the employment graph is a sure indication of the stable economic status of the city. With less than 5% unemployment rate, the living standard of over 95% of the city dwellers is above average. In addition, the increased avenue of job opportunities indicates the economic trend through the increased taxes. This paper can elucidate that, the overall administration and monitoring of the City resources is ensured because, there is adequate level of resources. When considering the aspect of the salaries and wages employment, between 2001 and 2007 the city and its environs had an increase of 10.3% in employments. This went down to 1.0% between 2007 and 2010, and rose again to 16.1% between 2010 and 2012. In the case of the self-employed or private sector in general, there was an increase of 41.2% between 2001 and 2007, which dropped to 7.3% between 2007 and 2010. On a similar note, an increase of 60.5% between 2010 and 2012 in the self-employed sector was recorded (Gonzalez &Jensen, 33). In addition, further analysis of the job opportunities, reveals that, the rate of increase in job opportunities in the private sector is relatively higher comparing with that of the wage and salary job opportunities. This shows that San Antonio has experienced numerous individuals initializing their own businesses. An increase in proprietors’ employments is a likely indication of growing number of salary and wages employment. This is because of the necessity of the self-employed individuals who own large businesses to employ others in order to sustain their workload ease. Some of the industries that saw a rapid growth rate in job opportunities include the construction industry. For example, there was an increase of 29.7% in employment in the construction industry alone between 2001 and 2007. This implies that, in this period, numerous construction activities were underway thus creating many opportunities. Thus, this increase led to increased job opportunities in other industries such as real estates and technical services industries. Looking at the changes in this period across the nation, US’s construction industry had an increase of 16.9%. This implies that San Antonio’s 29.7% increase contributed to the nation’s increase in employments in the construction industry. This is another indicator of the booming economic trends in the city. Continued increase of this trend will see the city to be at bar with the highly economically rated cities such as Austin in the same state. The Governmental Enterprises and employment According to industrial employment distributions, the governmental enterprises form the top employers in San Antonio. For instance, in 2001, it had 17.7% and in 2012, it had 15.9% distribution. Thus, the government has spearheaded the employment efforts in the area, implying that it has the interest of its economy at heart. In addition, the US employment distribution rates of 13.6% and 13% indicate that it is the top employer in the US economy as at 2012. This percentage contributed by the government has helped to balance the economic status in terms of unemployment rates.
