Since women started entering the job markets some half a century ago, they have been adopting dual roles of being a breadwinner as well as a homemaker. Ever since that time, the job market itself has seen a diversification as jobs for male and female members of the community have been segregated. Examples of the same can be witnessed within the American community today; as certain professions such as nursing jobs and secretarial positions are predominantly allotted to women, while men are required for a position within the army and other professions where the use of force and speed are the chief basis of selection.

Furthermore, HR managers and supervisors are blamed for gender inequality practices, even when the job is suitable for professionals from both genders, mostly because of personal beliefs and the ‘glass ceiling’ effect. Even though such incidences are much more common within second or third world countries, where the position of women is mostly confined to domestic chores, the media in the US is more active on this issue. As far as racial differences are concerned, the election of a President with African-American descent is evidence of the fact that the beliefs of the American populace are changing for the better. The economic influence of such events will be advantageous and profitable. Furthermore, a ‘woman’s role as a homemaker’ philosophy causes much more problem within a developing or under-developed economy as this causes the ‘feminization of poverty’ effect.III. Discuss the economic and social significance of interracial marriages and families.

Undoubtedly the most obvious and terrible social effect is that some of these couples are treated as outcasts by their own family and community members. Along with this, generation gaps cause even more negative social impacts on the issue, especially if the cultures and beliefs amongst the couple’s culture differ substantially. Nevertheless, there is a silver lining […] a social significance of interracial marriages, it is the fact that the couple will leave behind a lesson for their next generation, which is to remain indifferent towards racial differences.

For something that is considered a taboo in the US, interracial marriages encompass an imperative economic significance, that as prejudice and discrimination decrease and mixed-race individuals would be bestowed with equal educational opportunities, the skilled labor within the country would increase.
