IntroductionBeing a property and at the same time an application class, it is majorly meant to recognize times that sensed data could result in actionable knowledge. On the contrary, situation awareness is turning out to be a challenge as sensed data being handled are in rapidly increasing. Integration of sophisticated sensing, and communication within a small-footprint sensor platform is improving in terms of feasibility because of technological advancement. Concerning this, powerful sensors have been deployed with varied modalities which have a cost-effective advantage.

It is true according to Moore’s law that the growth of processing power, a volume that is being handled by the application is rapid as their prediction and they are both similar and the speed is quite fast. In the realization of situation awareness, three challenges are attached to it as in data explosion. They include infrastructure overload, rapid increase in both false positive and false negative as far as threat scenario identification is concerned, and lastly the cognitive overload on humans for loops.

For instance, situation awareness provision on a battlefield can be considered as an example. Complex fusion is required in terms of contextual knowledge in time-sensitive sensor data that is retrieved from varied sources to derive high-class inferences. Due to increasing human errors and cognitive overload which arise as a result of decisions made by the fighter pilot, more concern has to be put in place because of increasing sensed data. The infrastructure is overloaded due to computational and network resources which are being processed and disseminating sensed data.
