The magic herb given to the godson lets the man make mistakes hence causing conflict.
The conflict concerns the need for the man to follow the precaution on how to use the herb when treating people (Grimm, J., & Grimm, W., 1812). It started when the man who became a famous doctor cheated the Death on what is presumed to be his share. He would turn the body of the sick patient, for example, on one occasion he turned the king so that the head of the king was beside Death hence qualifies to be treated. Death realizing he was shortchanged pointed a threatening finger at the doctor and warned him of the consequences if the same was repeated. Death was furious again when the doctor cheated when he treated the king’s daughter upon being told that he would inherit the kingdom and marry his only beautiful daughter (Grimm, J., & Grimm, W., 1812).
The mistake is being repeated. Death opted to punish the doctor. He had forgiven him the first time but the second time, he took him underground and showed the doctor the short fading candle that represented his existence. He gave the doctor faces hope when he wanted to have a long candle. Death was revenging against his godson for taking his belongings. He toppled and let the candle go off. This was a tragic end as the doctor fell in the hands of death. Therefore, the conflict was resolved by killing the doctor (Grimm, J., & Grimm, W., 1812).
The denouement moment is evidenced by the implementation of death’s threat of consequences should his conditions be violated again. The punishment was by death, hence the doctor died because of his disobedience (Grimm, J., & Grimm, W., 1812).
