China town
The production of Chinatown marked the beginning of the fine entry of color into the movie genre. Chinatown is a neo-noir movie produced by Robert Evans and directed by Roman Polanski. It features many aspects of the movie noir genre especially a storyline that contains both a psychological dilemma and part mystery. The story of the film was motivated by the water conflicts or wars in California, the historical conflict over water and land rights that had faced California in the early 1900s.
The movie discusses how businesses encroach on people’s land and destroy the environment under the watch of the government. For instance, the conspiracy that Gittes unravels does not fit a real noir crime film because there is the absence of high-speed loot, no gems, and jewels. Instead, Huston and other people are planning to dry up the San Fernando Valley by moving water to another direction in order to purchase the land cheaply, and then re-divert water back into the land so that the land becomes fertile, and sell it at a higher price. The central question is how Evelyn Mulwray fits in all these activities and who is this mysterious woman associated with Mulwray.
Skyfall
Skyfall is a film produced by Eon Productions and directed by Mendes Sam. This film is the twenty-third James Bond movie. The movie focuses on James Bond inquiring about an attack or assault on MI6. The assault is part of the ploy by former MI6 employee Raoul Silva to embarrass, kill, and discredit M as a vengeful mission against her for deceiving him. The movie made its debut in 2012 when it premiered at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The storyline of the movie begins when Eve and James Bond chase Patrice, a mercenary who has stolen a computer with crucial information about undercover officers placed in terrorist or extremist groups by NATO Countries. As the movie progresses, Patrice shoots James Bond, and the fight escalates, Eve unintentionally wounds Bond which gives Patrice a chance to escape. James Bond plunges into a river, assumed dead. After the botched mission, M, the leader of the MI6 group faces political pressure to step down for failing to handle extremist activities. Mi6 computers are broken and M gets teasing information before MI6 offices explode killing MI6 workers. This turn of events forces MI6 to move its offices underground. James utilizes his assumed death to retire, learns of the explosion, and goes back to London. Despite failing to pass several psychological and physical tests, M accepts the return of Bond to work. This movie discusses the government's pursuit to crash terrorist activities which have severely affected society.
The Godfather
The Godfather is a crime film, which illustrates how gangster life is an amazing tale in American society because it has all things such as easy sex, money, drug trafficking, a glamorous lifestyle, and alcohol. The film depicts American values such as ambition, loyalty, respect, motivation, and independence that people admire. Additionally, it demonstrates that family unity is very vital for its success and continuity. For instance, families that are united always stay together as revealed in the film when Corlene Clan is caught in a dangerous drug war, Don Vito was determined to make his family honorable and respectable despite the fact that his son is lured into risky life of violence and murder.
The Godfather shows how illegal business and glamorous lifestyle are dangerous but John Lewis argued that these risky deals, it is nothing personal but just business. It shows the desire to make money using all means. For example, Michael was determined to make his family business grow despite what happened. He married an opposing group in order to get the link to engage in the heroin business. After satisfying his personal desires by venturing into the heroin business, Michael reunites with his family and was willing to employ more people in order to expand his business. The film showed the importance of love for one another. For example, Michael accepts to marry Kay and agrees to be the Godfather to the baby.
