Maggie hides with her daughter in her hands while trying to persuade her to be silent so that they can escape from him but eventually the child cries and they are exposed. When he tries to shoot at them he misses and Maggie takes her gun and kills him instead. After Phillip’s death, she moves to New York where she meets Barry Kahn, a singer, who loves her music and offers her a job of cooking and serving coffee to the staff (Bookrags, 2015).

While there she is lucky that Barry helps her nurture her music talent. Meanwhile she falls in love with an old New York hotel entrepreneur, Patrick, whom they have a child together but unfortunately passes on while they were sailing. She and her children inherit a big part of Patrick’s estate which does not go down well with Patrick’s son who accuses her of his death. While still in New York, she meets a successful footballer who plays in England, Will Shepard, who loves the city as he does not love being in England.
