5 Steps to a 5: Ap English Literature by Rankin, Estelle M, and Barbara L. MurphyJefferson uses pathos when he informs the people that the difficulties in foreign relations they faced before had been peacefully resolved. He further explains to them the measures and efforts taken to ensure this. Logos on the other hand are used when he argues that the nature of the country required essential proportion of force while demostrating the same. He encouraged the audience that they were in safe hands and were in every circumstance protected.

Ethos are used when he explains how fast he reacted when he hears of a State that plans to distract their peace and measures had put in place to ensure peace prevails. This shows his determination and credibility in achieving success. What evokes a reaction is when the writer explains to audience the measures he undertook to ensure their country was free from war, and how quick he reacted to related issues. The speed of reaction clearly shows agressiveness and responsibility.Fervent tone is used when the writer expresses strong feelings about the State that was planning to carry on military expedition against other territories in Spain.

how he used every means he could to stop that from happening as it would have caused much harm to his citizens is clear evidence of such a tone (Rankin,et al p 87). Tranquil tone is used when he assures the people that all difficulties that existed in their last seperation had been ended peacefully. This brings a peaceful mood among the people and further persuades them to listen to him more.6B-Mill Rhetorical strategiesDescription- there is a detailed perception of what the government is:They say that it is a problem to be solved like any other question of business.

Process analysis- we are told how they come up with the conceptions and a description of how that is done is equally provided. Argumentation-The second person argues that the government is a kind of spontaneous product, not a matter of choice but must be taken as found and they are not made but they grow. The tone in this passage is impartial as we can see the writer not directly involved in the situation and is therefore able to give a fair opinion about it.Step 2PRECIS6A. The writer informs the people that difficulties in their foreign relations that existed before in their country had been put to an end.

He clarifies that the nature of the country needed essential force and suggests how to do it. He uses all means to maintain peace.6BThere is a detailed perception of what the government is by two different people. The first one also tells us how they came up with the conceptions and the second also give their view on government.Rationale6A.He argues that the nature of the country required essential force employed and even suggests a way to have it done.6BI understand that the second person regard the government as a kind of spontaneous product and perceives it not as a matter of choice, but has to be regarded as found.

He further explains that they are not made but grow over time.I have been enlightened especially by Mill in the way he gives a fair opinion about the two parties’ perceptions of government. I have learnt that to be a good writer you should be fair when comparing two different people’s opinions.Work CitedRankin, Estelle M, and Barbara L.
