Teacher: Rosenberry Conference I attended the Rosenberry conference held on 22nd March at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). This conference was aimed at promoting cultural diversity and creativity through public participation in readings and conversation that seek to give a platform to upcoming writers. The conference was well attended despite reduced interest for reading by a majority of people nowadays. The main speaker was Andrew Vachss who is a renowned child rights protection activist, as well as an exceptional writer for crime fiction, poetry, short stories among others.
After a warm welcome by the audience, Andrew Vachss began his presentation by explaining about child abuse, which is the main topic that he writes about in his work. He emphasized why it is crucial to fight for children rights and urged members of the public to join hands so as to eradicate this vice. Initially when he started writing about this topic most people were not aware of the urgent need to talk about the issue, but lately the books have managed to create awareness about this problem.
After the talk, Mr. Vachss gave a chance to the audience to ask questions or give comments about the presentation. Several members of the audience participated in this session some of whom were victims of child abuse. Generally the conference was a great inspiration to me and many others who were in attendance. I got a chance to mingle with upcoming writers and also realized how writing can help change the society, as well as create awareness on various topics of concern. I humbly thank my instructor for giving me this great chance to attend this conference.
