This was a fascination to our family and especially me since I could watch my favorite cartoons and movies. The good thing with DVDs was that they did not require a lot of effort to use and so I could put a movie and play it all by myself. It was such an accomplishment being able to do that without the help of my family members. It also acted as an opening to the many new technology gadgets that I would use in the future. In addition to DVDs, I have also had the opportunity to listen to cassette tapes and my siblings and I would even go to the extent of tape mixing.

I could also record my own music even though the sound came out somehow of poor quality, but it still a fun experience. The other early device hat I remember using was the personal computer. My mum had bought an Apple computer that had a huge desktop, which obviously took almost all the space on the desk. Being an active child, I used to press the key buttons and ask my dad questions especially when it came to playing games. My dad would also come with some discs that had games in it and this would fascinate me quite a lot.

Other than the television, the computer became my other most addiction, as I would come straight from school headed to the computer to play games. In school, my friends also had computers at their homes and so we would exchange discs to get a feeling of each other’s games. Besides playing games, my dad also showed me how to work on the computer; for instance typing anything, I wanted. Learning how to use the computer from such an early age, I must admit that it made me more technologically advanced up to today.

As I continued learning the computer, I was able to type quite fast, do my calculations using the different applications, do Photoshop and so many other intriguing stuff. Later my parents decided to buy a new advanced computer and they gave it to me to be using especially for schoolwork. My other siblings would also use this computer for their assignments. With the new advanced computer, the games too changed for instance “Oregon Trail, thinking things and Chips Challenge which was one of my favorite.

Reason being it was a puzzle that required quite a lot of skills when it came to dodging enemies and getting a chip to get to the next level. As I went to high school, I was in a way very knowledgeable when it came to technology skills. At this time, even my schoolmates had internet connected to their personal computers at home. I also urged my parents to connect our new personal computer with internet so that we could be using it for research especially in our school assignments. My parents were at first reluctant but after some time they gave in.
