The Jerry Springer’s show is a talk show hosted by Jerry Springer; it is broadcasted in United States and other countries. It was first aired in 1991 but focused on political issues. Jerry Springer is a former politician who was born in 1944 in London United Kingdom. The show targets dysfunctional relationships; both married and engaged couples. In comparison, the book, The Metamorphosis and The Jerry Springer show are a source of entertainment and need for research to validate the causes and existence of the situations presented.

Transformational change is experienced in both the show and the narrative. The setting of the narrative is based on real life situation where an individual faced with any disability is not considered as part of the family and cannot be given a chance to contribute. Gregor was isolated from the entire family as seen from the way his father chased him from their living room. Gregor would just look through the window to admire the building across their home which he used to visit before the change, “Gregor’s glance then turned to the window” (Kafka 1).

Changes that take place in peoples lives, especially if the change is irreversible and traumatizing, people are found to get emotional and shed tears. The transformation of Gregor’s life into an animal like creature moved the family; the sister who assisted in cleaning his room broke into tears because she could not resist what she was seeing of Gregor’s physical appearance (Kafka 33). The Jerry Springer show which focuses on couples in intimate relationships is an entertaining since people laugh throughout the show because of the stories guests tell of their partners and the fights.

Although the show ends up in people tearing each others clothes, it remains entertaining to the audience who ask questions. The show is emotional because infidelity is exposed which makes the other partner feel betrayed which they end up shedding tears and fighting their spouses due to anger (Kafka 34). Transformation is evident from the initial state of faithfulness in the marriage or the relationship to a new state where the one of the spouse commits adultery. The two situations can be contrasted, The Metamorphosis is best on a personal imagination.

The audiences are the readers and the setting is not interactive. The state of Gregor is irreversible because it involves biological changes; its causes can only be proven through scientific research. On the other hand, The Jerry Springer show is so interactive because it has live audience, people can ask questions basing on what they have seen and heard from the guests. Views and recommendations from the audience can be directed to the affected victims unlike The Metamorphosis where the readers cannot give any advice to Gregor (Goldin 1).

Both reality and illusion are brought out in the settings. Human beings are known transform as a result of biological defects and physical changes. Diseases can influence changes in a human body, for example, people with cancer lose their hair while they undergo chemotherapy. Exposure to explosives and dangerous metals, which Gregor might have been a victim while a lieutenant can be blamed contributed for his state. Metamorphosis process which Gregor has undergone is just an imagination, it is not normal for human beings to transform instantly.

Change is gradual; Gregor and his family should have noted the
