Perhaps it would be much saner on my part to define my economic needs while taking into consideration my animal heritage that I share with all the life forms on this wonderful earth. I don’t have to watch the television sitcoms, or crane my neck at the passing billboards, or mull over the advertisements published in the glossy magazines to decide as to where should I live, what should I wear and what should I eat. My animal instincts are sufficient to suggest as to how I ought to govern the economics of my life (Thoreau 11). In consonance with my philosophy of life I intend to pursue an economics that systematically converges on “a primitive and frontier life (Thoreau 11).” So I emphatically intend to shun all such professions that come within the ambit of federal, state and local income taxes, Social Security Taxes, Medicare, Medicaid, retirement systems and employer assisted health plans. These expenses though claim 22 to 33 percent of a free man’s income, actually are akin to cutting a dogs tail to feed him. Hence avoiding them will automatically obfuscate one third of my time I will spend on earning a living, which could be spent better on educating me. As for the shelter is concerned, my parents do own a house, mortgage paid, with a spacious kitchen garden, enough to feed a family of reasonable proportions. Considering the fact that none is ever privileged to be immortal, expecting to stay with my parents until I inherit that house is a fairly natural and healthy choice. Besides, they won’t mind access to a helping hand in their old age, which I take to be a duty of love. I believe that energy consumption stands to be the biggest money depletory in the United States. When an individual in Angola could survive with 189 kWh of electricity consumption per year, a per capita consumption of 13,654 kWh in the US is positively sacrilegious, an abomination or perhaps an act of blasphemy (The World Bank: Online). I intend to limit my energy consumption to a single CFL and an energy efficient oven throughout my life, while relying on my sweat glands to cool me in the summers and some natural fibers and my body heat to keep me warm during the winters. For the rest, like seeds and manure for the kitchen garden, some decent secondhand apparels (which go really fine if washed and bleached properly), bills accrued on bare necessities, money for public transport that I intend to resort to throughout my life and the like, I will have to engage in what a majority of humanity calls work. I have realized that a great deal of the contemporary economy is about paper work. One could find hundreds and hundreds of fellow citizens teaming outside the employment exchanges, hospitals, public offices, insurance firms, academic institutions, required to comply with a tortuous filling of forms and related paperwork. Certainly these people won’t mind assigning this paper work to a freelancer for a couple of dollars. Well, this is the work I intend to pursue as my future career. Even if I ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Diversity in Education

There is a form of cultural imperialism that exists within countries and that is, arguably, destructive of personality and helps create school failure where success is possible. Moroccan children in Belgium, Turkish children in Germany, Pakistani and West Indian children in Britain, Algerian children in France, African-American, Hmong, and Latino children in the United States are alienated from their own cultures in their schools and learn to feel marginal to the mainstreams of thought and behavior in many of the communities in which they live. This type of cultural imperialism exists throughout the world, not merely in highly industrialized countries. It affects how Basarwa children are taught in Botswana's Kalahari Desert, how m...

Children and Young People's Reflections on an Education

The reforms have to be brought from the top side of a nation, whereby the government needs to take bold steps to promote it no matter how hard it is on their budgets. Similarly, child development is a very significant aspect in the times of today. There is immense importance which is given to this subject. (Nespor, 1997) The basis is backed up with sufficient data and research which goes a long in establishing the fact that child development indeed owes a lot of attributes on the part of the people who are related to the child – the parents and/or its guardians. Law Studies: Disposition after the Death

One of the first things that Abelard needs to do is to make sure his wishes are expressed in his will. He may also want to name a close and trustworthy friend to be the executor of his will such that that individual may interview the children of Abelard at the time of his death in order to make a subjective judgment as to whether the children are in fact followers of the Christian faith or if they are only claiming to be. In the event that the children have deceased, then Abelard’s furniture is to go to a museum that may also be executed by Abelard’s chosen executor. In addition to naming the executor, it is critical that Abelard ensure that communication regarding his exact intentions is in detail, within the will and...

Mary Wollstonecraft on Education

Understanding that women are just as able as men in many capacities and some very important ways that she excels causes one to realize that no one should be able to take her rights away. It is the mother who gives protection for the initial nine months to the divine creative force of nature – regardless of whether the offspring is male or female. But what is prescribed in various secular and spiritual texts and what is practiced in society currently are contradictory. A female child is victimized during every step of her life, from the moment of birth, notwithstanding the fact that it is she who sacrifices at those stages. Women need to be the social, spiritual and legal equals of men. These were the arguments that Mary Woll...

Juvenile Delinquency and Education: A Comparison of Public and Private Education

...Juvenile Delinquency and Education Introduction and ment of the Problem The question of juvenile misbehaviour and crime was not taken seriously until modern times. It was till the eighteenth century that children were regarded as non persons. They were neither recognized nor received any special treatment from either the state or society. The concept of discipline was at most a violent treatment of reinforcing specific norms acceptable in society. Perhaps a reason for that was that child mortality rates were high. It was not considered feasible to form attachments with children. They were left up to nature and the survival of the fittest approach. However, at the end of the eighteenth century, the age of “The Enlightenment” brought about...

Management Theory and Practice in the Early Childhood Education Industry

...Management Theory and Practice in the early childhood education industry This Report applies management theory into practice in the early childhood industry, especially in the context of women leaders. Management issues play a significant role in the academic sector, because early childhood professionals need higher levels of motivation in order to avoid burnout . As pointed out in a study by Osgood and Halsall (2007) where they carried out research to examine the position of women in leadership or management positions, a “glass ceiling” exists for women in the academic setting, which could significantly impair motivation. Since many of the individuals employed in the early education sector are women, addressing this issue is even more...
