There are several laws protecting the consumer in Australia. Since the project area is in Western Australia it will be governed by the Fair Trading Act of 2010. However other policies and legislations in Australia are applicable and will be used to cover the project. The Australian consumer law is a national law that applies at the national level in the same way it applies to each of the states and territories. The law gives a guarantee for the rights of the buyers who will purchase the necessary items for the project. They will be entitled to various rights whenever they get goods and services. They will also have rights to repairs of various equipment and machines, their refunds, and replacements in case they do not fit their desire. Consumer guarantees granted by this law target goods and services. The legislation explains who gives the guarantee on what, warranties, and the responsibilities of manufacturers among other things (EPA, 2012).

The legislation covers sales practices such as telemarketing, contracts, multiple pricing; lay by agreements, coercion and harassment, referral selling, and the provision of receipts and bills. It also defines misleading and deceptive conduct and the penalties for practices that are not fair. The Competition and Consumer Act 2010 which is a major federal law bring about fairness in trade for customers and business. This legislation takes care of many of the marketplace dealings. It covers dealings with suppliers, retailers, and wholesalers, and customers. It concerns unfair practices on the market, the safety of products, and other things (Buchanan, 87).
