As Peterson was first put on the list in September after the news of his child abuse case broke, he went voluntarily, and such incidence sidelined him away from all team activities. More so, he continued to be paid as his huge contract AP was making $ 700,000 on a weekly basis without lifting a finger.RuleThe rule was determined that Peterson is suspended for abusing a child, and he went willingly to the exemption list. While in the suspension, he was apart from team activities but his payment did not stop because he had signed a bigger contract than earning a good amount of money.

Since he has given directions that only the Commissioner should have the mandate to place a player on the Exempt List, therefore, clubs have no such authority as well as an exemption and regardless of circumstances should be automatic (Burkhart). ApplicationThe NFLPA will appeal AP’s suspension on their behalf of him. The law supports as the NFL executive said that AP’s nine weeks on the list should count as time in service. Peterson firstly was suspended for abusing a child, and he went willingly to the exemption list (Burkhart).

While in the suspension, he was apart from team activities but his payment did not stop.
