Drug usage by college students is a crucial issue that cannot be ignored. The fact cannot be denied that drugs are in no way beneficial for the users. The benefits that are attached to the usage of illegal drugs are just temporary and their long-lasting effects are damaging to the mental and physical health of users. As far as the students studying in colleges are concerned, their usage of illegal drugs is thought-provoking and needs a solution. Much research and work are done on the issue of drug usage considering the significance of the matter.
However, the researchers and government are not successful in introducing successful preventive measures for stopping the usage by college students that can be regarded as hazardous. The usage of drugs by students affects their performance in college negatively. Drugs not only make the students addicted but also damage their health and mind. Losing control of minds and focus when they require it for becoming successful in their studies is significant. There are many wrong perceptions attached to the usage of drugs such as their moderate effects on health.
Drugs are highly damaging and risky and should be avoided. This research evaluates the most common and used drugs, the reasons for their usage, the consequences of their usage, and lastly, the preventive measures that can be adopted for stopping or reducing their usage. The ‘sample population’ of this research are the teachers and students who will be allowed to fill in the questionnaires. The topic is “Drug Use in College Students” and the students and teachers being in a college environment are better aware of questions regarding drug use in college students.
In addition, as a student, I can easily interact with students and teachers. The teachers and students of Indiana State University are included in the survey. Half of the respondents are teachers, while half of them are students. A cover letter was created and submitted to the college administration for getting permission for conducting a survey.
