Simply leaving John and going out of the cohabitating equation would not solve any problem rather put them in a fix as to what lies in store for them. There has to be a solution for the entire family and this is detailed within the length of this paper. In this paper, Ursula would be advised as per her course of action and what she ought to do in order to bring about sanity not only within her life but also the ones whom she loves and wants to spend her life with. Since Ursula and John have spent a good amount of their lives together (4 years to be exact), they must have had the insight that they should make it possible to survive through thick and thin. Yet somehow she must also understand that if her husband is being too jealous, then he should be told straightly that he is in the wrong, and that he must change his own self to bring happiness back within the folds of the family. There is no way that quitting on the relationship will bring any good memories for anyone, and Ursula needs to discern this – the sooner the better for everyone involved (Davis & Robson, 2011). The most appropriate advice that can be given to Ursula is that she must speak to her elders whom she holds in good stead. When the respect element comes into the fray, things automatically start getting better. It would mean that her elders would know beforehand of the worsening scenarios erupting at home. They would also know that the kids are the ones who would suffer the most, and hence sanity must prevail within the homely atmosphere at the earliest. These elders will make sure that their point gets across because this is important as far as comprehending the domains of the relationship between Ursula and John is concerned. It will allow them to reassess where they are going wrong and what drastic effects are coming upon their kids, which will haunt them for the rest of their lives. The elders will tell them that this is a phase which needs to be taken care of with due consideration and this should in no way effect their children’s lives and even their own ones at all. The role of the elders is of essence here as they aim to highlight the wrongs that both John and Ursula are bringing about, and how they are being naïve about the future domains that surround their lives in more ways than one. This is an understanding that must be reached upon because it will bring love and affection back to their family life and the relationship between Ursula and John would be strengthened once again. These elders would therefore play their roles well if either Ursula or John decides to engage them in so that their lives could be made better, without much problem or concern. However, this require empathy on the part of both John and Ursula to see that either of them are having a tough time and it would be in the best interests of the family to bring in an elder so that sanity could prevail at the end of the day. The future is something that holds a great amount of value for the family, and this needs to be comprehended adequately well by both John and Ursula. On the part of Ursula, it is her duty to make sure that she must not do something upon which she will repent in the future. She loves her kids and even her husband John, so she needs to make sure that the decision to leave John is not a quick one but a well thought out decision. However, once again, quitting the relationship and going back to square one is also not the solution to this anomaly which has come about within the family. Since the kids are too young to know anything, their lives will only suffer in the coming times and hence it would be a good idea to make do with things as they are. It is their love that they have two kids now, one aged 3 years and the other 1 year only (Randall, 2011). These kids look up to Ursula and John for their future and if both of their parents are not around them or if one of these parents is missing, their lives would be made miserable. What Ursula and John both need to understand is the premise that their kids are way too young to understand the growing tensions between them and if they can change their course of action as far as their respective life domains are linked, then this would save the basis of their family in the times to follow. What is even more distressing to know is that the ownership of the house has come about as a problem. Since the two of them decorated their home themselves, now when they have an issue to take care of, Ursula thinks that the house in her partner’s name therefore she has no right to think about the home in the future. This is somewhat of a pessimistic approach that has been taken on by Ursula because she is actually taking things in a very negative way – a point from where there would seem to be no return at all. The negativity would not work well for Ursula because she has to understand her role within the cohabitating scenario that has been carried on by both Ursula and John for a period of 4 years now. They must think above themselves because now they have kids to take care of. Their maturity needs to be questioned because the kids will suffer in the end in the case of a mishap between John and Ursula. This negativity will bring curtains upon the partnership of the two and when the kids grow up, they will have to face the brunt of their mistakes, one such being the quitting of cohabitation between John and Ursula. What remains to be seen is how well this cohabitating process can continue like this. It must lead into a marriage because that is the formal and legal way of doing things within any society of the world. Since now they have kids to take care of, a wedding seems even more appropriate and they must think about legalizing their status to bring about sanity within their related domains (Simpson, 2009). It might just bring about a sense of responsibility within the realms of both John and Ursula, and perhaps that would be the ultimate tonic behind bringing the two of them to a common platform. However, since the situation between the two is all the more awry at the present, having a marriage would seem like a distant equation. But then again, thinking on such lines would not be a far fetched proposition as this can actually ask both of them to take their lives seriously as compared to what they are doing at the present. It will also mean that Ursula’s desire of owing the house could be made more legal. Since the house would still be in the name of John, Ursula would seek ownership within it as she would be his legal better half under such a scenario. Since Ursula has come to me for help, she must understand that her priorities must be set correctly as this will form the basis for her family values and the quality family life that she is looking forward to having within her fore. What this will also manifest is the basis of happiness that will come along with it and how she wishes to decipher the true meaning of oneness within the house that she and her family members live in. Since she believes that her husband is a jealous individual who does not let her mingle with her friends, she needs to sit down with him and talk at length. She needs to have an open heart and let her husband’s reservations come out in the open. This will resolve quite a few issues which are hampering her family life and not to forget her very own. What is even more significant is the fact that discussions always lead to something new and meaningful. It will tell her exactly where she is going wrong and what corrective steps her husband needs to take in order for the cohabitating relationship to work in the long run. They must talk about their kids because it gains essence all this while. They are the ones who look up to both John and Ursula, and thus the parents have to find a reason as to how negativity within their relationship has to end sooner rather than later. This will ultimately mean that the kids will not suffer as a result and they will have a good family life as a consequence. However, this is easier said than done at the present because Ursula and John need to sit down together and have a long talk about their priorities in life, the kind of jealousies that John has of Ursula and how these reservations could be turned into possible areas of mutual friendship with Ursula’s friends. What needs to be comprehended is the willingness on the part of John to have a discussion with Ursula because Ursula wants things to get better yet is uncertain of living with John or just leaving him forever. Having a proper discussion would actually tell both of them where they stand and what corrective steps they need to undertake to bring about sanity within their ranks. It will also tell both John and Ursula where they have been wrong all this while and how they will make amends in the coming times. But then again, these are mere assumptions at the moment and should be tackled in an adequately sane way by the cohabitating partners to bring success within their relationship. Ursula needs to find little moments of happiness from her life and make do with what is on offer. This means that she must involve herself in gardening as she loves it immensely. She must find other ways to keep herself busy. But this is no way means that her husband is given the freedom to feel jealous about her friends. The element of faithfulness is significant to understand here because it brings sanctity towards the relation that exists between the two. This is all the more necessary because Ursula has to do it for her own home. She must tell John what value she holds for him and how she will go the extra mile to make him feel comfortable. On the other hand, John has his task cut out. He needs to establish his own self in a proper and sane way. He must know that whatever he is asking of Ursula is just over the top and a bit too much. It will not bring any sanity within the related ranks as far as their relationship is concerned. It will only bring wrath towards the entire family and make them feel discontented with their respective lives. There has to be an element of guilt which must be apparent from the demeanors of John, and he should reassure Ursula that he loves her just like he did in the past and the kids are a prime example of the cohabitating relationship that they have for the last 4 years. As both Ursula and John have their expenses managed fairly well, there is no reason why they cannot manage their own lives in much the same fashion. This means that they need to think on the lines of bringing about a proper basis towards their lives and to the home that they have articulately built over a period of time. What is required now is a collective vision and to shed off the jealousies that exist on the part of John as far as his partner is concerned. They have to do it for the family, and the way ahead seems nothing more significant than discussions that are much needed at the end of the day. The best thing about John and Ursula is that they are managing their expenses properly, and this has been showcased in the distribution of what they earn and how they spend the same on a consistent basis (Cheeseman, 2009). Ursula must understand that her husband is doing the right thing by contributing regularly but she ought to know that her role is equally important for the basis of success in the house. John should also appreciate Ursula’s receptionist’s job because she is doing something worthwhile for the family. The expenses are always on the rise and it is with the collective effort of both John and Ursula that the house will eventually run along well. Therefore it is a good starting point for both of them to acknowledge what they are contributing towards home and how they should be thankful to one another. It is therefore a significant undertaking that Ursula and John understand each other because they really have to. It is with their insightful comprehension that the entire house will have sanity prevalent within it. The elders who are near and dear ones of Ursula and John should also be aware what is going on between the two of them and what corrective steps are needed in essence. More than anyone else, it is the responsibility of John and Ursula to make sure that their fight does not get bigger than it is at the moment. Merely being jealous of her friends and the links that Ursula has with them is somewhat of a far fetched proposition, and John must make amends, the sooner the better for their entire family and their home in particular. In the end, it would be fair to state that the advice for Ursula is to be sure what she is going to do next. She must not be swift in taking her decisions, and should rely more on what she has learned with the passage of time and not just her instincts. What is quintessential under such a scenario is that Ursula should know the aftereffects of quitting on her cohabitating relationship. She should be aware that this could have drastic effects and the children will be the ones who will suffer the most. Since these children are too young to know anything which is going on between their parents, it is only natural to think of them being in the dark when they grow up and become adults at a later stage within their lives (Lee, 2009). All said and done, Ursula is going to do something huge if she goes back on her cohabitating relationship. She should be ill-informed if she brings down curtains on this relationship. She therefore has to think time and again what she is up to and what this will mean to her and the entire family today and in the coming times.
