Extract of sample "Federal Law Enforcement Agencies"

From this perspective, federal law enforcement is essentially a straightforward matter: the law and common sense are all that is required. Bittner remarked that organizations are 'permanently flooded with petty military and bureaucratic regulations' Legalism is closely linked to the conception of police organizations as effective bureaucracies. The federal judiciary consists of the Circuit Courts and permanent appellate court for each circuit. Today, 94 courts are established around the country.

The federal judiciary is headed by the chief judge of the court of appeal. There are 12 circuits in the USA, and each of these courts has its own court of appeal. This can get complicated because more than one person may have control over an area. People unfamiliar with the legal system may also find the concept of standing complicated. Generally, people must have had their own rights violated before they can object in court (Koletar, 2005). A great benefit of street or public-order offenses to police is that an officer's confirmation is usually sufficient to ground a charge.

The role of a federal agent is to investigate causes and issues of federal importance, manage disasters, public safety, social order, victim prevention, and enforcement of laws. A deficiency of cultural analysis has been a failure to appreciate the complex relations between law and culture: this tends to be reproduced at a higher level in the work by members of agencies. Their own work shows the need for a more complex formulation. The source of federal law is the US Federal Constitution, internal laws and regulations, Office of Professional Responsibility, In contrast, state law enforcement agencies are subjected to state Constitutions and laws (Koletar, 2005).

The US Attorney is a part of the Department of Justice. This person is considered the main representative and the administrative head of his Office. This person is the chief prosecutor in the country and is involved in civil law cases. The federal judiciary consists of international and multination units. The international unit (Interpol) consists of several units and subdivisions. Also, the structure involves different levels of authority: the local, territory, state levels. Their power is influenced by a number of social and political factors which determine its main functions and internal structure.

Federal accounts take the efficacy of law for granted: it is assumed that any important variation in the impact of rules (so long as they are competently drafted) is due to external issues rather than from their nature (Koletar, 2005). The case is investigated as a federal matter if it deals with problems, crimes, and issues under federal jurisdiction, and cannot be prosecuted by the state agency. The assumption of the federal police model that law enforcement is the sole function of policing is replaced by a realization that the precedence of police work is service provision and social order maintenance, and that these are usually achieved by methods other than law enforcement.

Also, federal police investigate matters related to police violence, fraud, and corporate scandals that took place on the federal level.
