The show starts at 10.00 in the morning and ends at 4.00 in the evening Special songs by Garett Pietro, you will never like to miss; Henry Agostini, the Mayor of Bilby announced a plan by the council to construct an hospital in the Bilby Town Hall. As the Bilby Landcare group, we are strongly against it. This is because it will have an effect of relocating the grave yard from the town to another location which is far. This will make it hard for elderly citizens to walk for these long distances for purposes of mourning their bereaved. Relocating the graveside will also have a negative impact on the tourism sector of the town. This is because the grave side is a burial site for people like Ben Travers, and a reflection of the Gold Rush times. On this basis, the grave side is a symbol of an important historical event. Therefore, Bilby Landcare invites everyone to a concert which will be used for purposes of petitioning the mayor to desist from constructing the hospital under consideration. Bilby Landcare appeals to all its supporters to come out in large numbers for purposes of sending a message to the mayor, that the project under consideration is not conducive. End of Release SPEECH: As the mayor of Bilby, I would like to announce to you the building of a new hospital in Bilby. The Bilby Shire Council has resolved to build an hospital in the current grave yards of the town. To effectively achieve this objective, the graveyards of the town will be located, in a yet to be identified location outside the town. Before the council decided to build this hospital, there was extensive research on the status of health care in Bilby. From this research, it is important to denote that the council found out that the health status of Bilby was not good. This is because Bilby mainly relies on the Bush hospital for provision of health care services. Due to the increasing number of the residents in Bilby, Bush hospital became overstretched. It is therefore impossible for the hospital to offer quality medical and health care services (Slottje and Tchernis, 2012). Bilby also depends on the regional hospital at Bendalong, for the provision of health care and medical services. This means that Bilby does not have the capability of effectively catering for the health care needs of its citizens. On this basis, Bilby Share council resolved to build a new hospital. This will help in increasing the bedding capacity of hospitals in Bilby, and it will reduce Bilby’s reliance on Bendalong hospital for the provision of its health care and medical services. It is my humblest desire, for every resident of Bilby to support this initiative. It is important to denote that in as much the hospital is aimed at increasing the bedding capacity of health care institutions in Bilby, and decreasing its over-reliance on Bedalong hospital, the building of the hospital will also have other advantages. For instance, building this hospital will give the planners of the council an opportunity to conduct a fresh planning for Bilby. These would ensure an improvement on the physical identity of Bilby. Ladies and gentlemen, this hospital will have all the facilities needed for carrying out medical checks, screening, and treating the sick. This hospital will therefore be a regional leader in the provision of health and medical services. It has also come to my attention that there are a number of groups that are against the construction of this hospital. The reasons advanced are that it would lead to environmental degradation through the destruction of the graveyard, and the wetlands. According to this view, graveyards have orchids and native grasses which are extinct, and destroying them will result to environmental degradation . Others denote that the graveyards are historical symbols, and destroying them will lead to a drop in tourism earnings. Ladies and gentlemen, in s much as these suggestions are valid, it is important to denote that the benefits of building this hospital are greater than these disadvantages (Britannica, 2010). The building of this hospital will lead to the preservation of lives, employment of more people, and improving the health care and medical services of the people of Bilby. Finally, through this short address, I hope the residents of Bilby will support my initiatives. Opinion Piece: Why the Construction of the hospital is a danger of the environment: To the Editor: The Times: The Bilby Landcare group is strongly opposed against the construction of the hospital in Bilby. The group does not oppose the construction of the hospital, but the location upon which the hospital under consideration will be built. It is the intention of the council to build the hospital in the regions graveyard. This is unacceptable, because it would lead to the destruction of the environment (Ellis and Hartley, 2012). The graveyards of the town are located in the regions wetlands. It is important to denote that wetlands have many advantages, and they include prevention of floods by slowing down the movement of rain water. This is beneficial because the wetlands manage to store water, releasing them slowly. Plants would therefore use this water for photosynthesis, which is very essential for the growth and development of plants under consideration. Destroying the graveyards, would mean a destruction of the wetlands. This would in turn mean limiting the growth of plants, which play a great role in sustaining the lives of mankind. The graveyard is also an important ecological system in the region, and the country as a whole. It is the home of a unique species of orchids, native plants and animals such as the grassland frog. It is important to denote that the grassland frog is an endangered species, and destroying the graveyard will mean playing a role in the diminishing of these frogs. To preserve these endangered species and plants, it is therefore important for all the residents of Bilby to stand up and say no the construction of the hospital at the graveyards. These assertions are supported by the research carried out by Greg Grassington. This researcher managed to find out that the grassland contained a number of unique grasslands, and endangered wild animals. This was on his report that he presented to the leaders of the Bilby Landcare. The mayor’s assertion that the benefit of building the hospital in a wetland surpasses that of its disadvantages is therefore uncalled for. It is within our agreement that the hospital built will lead to an increase in the bedding capacities, and a reduction in the reliance of hospitals found in other regions. It is also within our agreement that the hospital built will result to an improvement in the health care needs of the residents of Bilby (Miller and Swensson, 2012). However, it is important to denote that there are other locations within Bilby where the hospital under consideration can be built. Must it be in on a graveyard, which is the regions wetland, and an important ecological system? The excuse that the hospital will be a high class, state of art hospital is also uncalled for. This is because the council can use the money under consideration to improve on the bush hospital. On this basis, building this hospital in the graveyard will do more harm to Bilby, than any good. The environment will be degraded, tourism will fall, and an important historical site will come under destruction. It is therefore good for the people of Bilby to resist this project.
