Journal Entry 2: Key Issues of 1st Journal: My colleague: My colleague was suffering from low self-esteem, insecurity, low span of comprehension, panic attack, accusations for the sake of self- defense, and lack of trust on others. She had been under a lot of stress due to personal or professional issues, which made her dissatisfied all the time and moreover, she was not able to concentrate on her work as well. Persistent distraction, low attention span, job insecurity, crabby attitude were the core causes of her poor progress at work. Yet, failure to complete a task according to requirements pushed her for panic attack, which later on changed into anger and frustration due to her own in-competencies. Her premature conclusion about the mistakes led her to act unprofessionally and make a spectacle of herself in front of the whole office.
Myself:
Since I was aware of her existing mental status and whinny nature, I had a preset conception about her also. We worked together and I saw how distracted she is and how abruptly she wanted to finish the task. These observations made me a little edgy too, but I was able to maintain my temper instead of becoming a part of blame game. However, in front of supervisor I stated my stance and revised the work to verify that the mistakes were inserted from part. Challenging situations sparked anger in me also, which immediately was interlinked with self-defense mechanism. Hence, due to this reaction theory one instantly starts concealing their mistake, despite of its awareness.
Supervisor:
The shouting, complaining, and challenging stance of my co-worker led the supervisor to act and interfere immediately. However, to our good luck she didn’t blame or accused us for anything, but rechecked the work with me to check the mistakes. Her composure and prudent handling of critical situation enabled me to rectify the work and highlight the mistakes on her part (colleague). Read More

...Journal Entry I have been thinking about my studies so far with regard to the question of first language acquisition and I’m of the opinion that there is no conclusive evidence about how a child acquires his first language. We somehow end up speaking the language that our parents use so it is only logical to assume that they taught it to us. However, we cant remember being taught the tenses of verbs, possessive pronouns, or adjectives and adverbs. Yet, we somehow acquire the skill to use them at an early age. We werent taught these things; we acquired them through some other means. Our parents did not teach us to breathe or to swallow. We learned to walk on our own and we picked up speech without the aid...

..., the speaker’s character becomes evident. The lines in the poem are in an iambic pentameter with no rhyme pattern, giving it a natural speech feel, rather than a pre meditated performance. The ideas within the poem get entangled together as the thoughts do not necessarily end at the line break. My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is also a monologue poem. The poem becomes entirely made up of rhyming couplets. Robert also employs alliteration in his work that works well with the rhyme scheme present. Imagery and allusion get used in the poem to depict the nature of the speaker. Symbolism and irony are also key components in the poem. Works Cited Null, Paul D. Moliken. Poetry: Discovering Genre. ...Journal entry Donald Hall in his book “life work” demonstrated the theme of life, work and love. Through his work, he advised people to have a compassion for their work so that they could enjoy their work for a lifetime (Hall 347). Nonetheless, the author did not address the issue of how one can discover the work that interests them the most. Majority of people worldwide seek employment for survival and very few people work within their areas of interest. People seek employment in sectors they consider more rewarding and guarantee money protection throughout their lives. Prior to composing poems and children books, Donald Hall was a teacher; he did not enjoy the job especially when...

...according to their interest. However, collaboration is still regarded as a team work. This is one of the things that I feel are most important for everyone to understand because this may be one of the biggest problems that one may face while working with new people. Since I have taken this course I have tried to implement all ways of collaboration I have learnt through this course. It really is helping me throughout. When I get into a group work I always recommend this kind of working which makes it easier for all of us to work. This course, not only told us ways to work in collaboration, but also told us examples where people are working in interdisciplinary collaboration. For example in films,...

...Journal entry One of my last Saturday’s plans was to attend a group recreational activity at a local park and a phenomenon at the pack touched my life. A little girl, who appeared composed and with a focused intent, like an experienced manager with a crucial plan for an organization, approached me. She was almost formal as she offered a greeting and introduced herself as Jane. The most touching aspects of the encounter were the responsibility that the little girl was undertaking and her level of sincerity. According to her story, her mother who is a single parent is the sole breadwinner, though without a formal job, and has not been active because of her pregnancy condition. The mother delivered twins...

...Journal Entry: Point of View al Affiliation Journal Entry: Point of View Describe a recent experience when you did something with a friend or family member. But tell it from the point of view of the other person - or a pet. I have always wondered what my best friend is feeling. I could observe her always being up and about. When she wakes up she would usually pat me on my head and go through her daily chores. She would go to the kitchen and cook to serve breakfast for her children. She has six children, all boys. I knew them to be equally affectionate and cheerful. They would greet me every now and then. One of them, Matthew, would even put me on his bed...

...Lecturer’s Linguistic There is a growing concern among high school teachers about the effect of slang on the writingabilities. This has been noted where the students are having problems capitalizing and punctuating words. There are also those who have adopted the behavior of abbreviating words to one syllable. Spelling mistakes have been on the rise and teachers are blaming all this to social media and text messaging. In a world where communication technology has been embraced by people, the young generation has been seen to prefer texting. It is through this texting that they get used to writing in shorthand and not paying attention to correct spelling of words. The habit is then transferred to classrooms in the...

...Journal Entry Journal Entry Following our lessons in the past two weeks, I have come to understandthat market information and research is a crucial aspect of business success and competitiveness. Most entrepreneurs enter into the corporate industry without conducting proper research of the competition, costs, customer wants and needs, the perception of the public regarding the brand, and government regulation. However, Unit 5 shed light not only on the importance of market research and information, otherwise known as research and development (R&D) function, but also outlined the various techniques of market research including surveys, focus groups, interviews, field...

...Approach to Negotiations at the End of the Semester At the end of the semester, I developed a different approach to negotiations. I have changed my approach to negotiation from an assertive approach in which I seek to satisfy my individual needs, to cooperativeness, which intends to satisfy the interests of others. I learnt the need for a structured approach to negotiation, which has so far proven successful in several cases that I have encountered in the course of the semester. The main aim of negotiation, as I have learnt, is to negotiate towards a Win-Win outcome in which both parties become satisfied. This involves a process of preparation and discussion, in which we discuss all...
