It is an adventurous journey that compares and brings historical events into the present by comparing European imperialism centuries ago with the present colonial exploitation. Moreover, the movie mixes the Spanish exploitation of gold in the 16th century with the Cochabamba war struggles in 2000 to bring out ideas relating to exploitation and globalization. This abstract aims to explicate the theme of sympathy, good fellowship, and loyalty, and not just compare historical events with the present.

The recurrent theme described in this dramatic film is exploitation, hypocrisy, and globalization. Costa, a film producer, and Sebastian a young director are working together on a film (Columbus’s Arrival to Americas) they are planning to shoot in Bolivia, Cochabamba, but their friendship polarizes when dealing with business and moral integrity. The exploitation of the locals by these filmmakers portrays them as hypocrites and they face stern opposition from the indigenous people. It is in Bolivia, the setting of their new movie that a water war breaks out forcing these filmmakers to make emotional journeys in variant directions (Laverty 220). There is more threat to the crew when Daniel becomes the leader of the indigenous people as they protest against the privatization of water and price increment by 300 percent. More scenes of struggle against the indigenous people’s historical oppression and colonization are brought to light. The low living standards of the locals bring out emotional sympathy while the conflicts bring to light the dangers of exploitation and oppression.

Even the Rain is a dynamic layered film marked by interesting stories and timely themes that are precisely presented. The movie is a moving and captivating testament for those who fight against unfairness. Even the Rain serves as a movie within a movie and offers a glimpse of mastery presentation and organization to highlight the indented themes or meaning. The filmmakers in the film benefit at the expense of the natives with hypocritical lessons for their own interests just like the government. In addition, this film depicts pragmatism and cynical attributes amongst higher authorities within a society, for instance, Costa has no problem oppressing the natives and does not care about the whole water issue, just as long as he gets his film done (225).

I think that the movie ‘Even the Rain’ is a pretty thrilling and dramatic piece of work with such an amazing plot and characters. The contemporary setting is almost close to the real-life setting and the true events of the Bolivians and it proves intriguing.  It is an interesting movie and unique in its own way since not much is seen from such regions of the world. The fact that it depicts the recurrence of mistakes that were done so many years ago into the present world makes it, even more, captivating and educative as well. Notably, Even the Rain is a story about the current state of the world, a situation that has not changed since time immemorial as well as human weaknesses and gluttony (150).

Even the Rain is more of politics wrapped up in a character study as it starts from a region that is considered a little dull, but its proceedings infuse enough heart to make it a political statement. The cinematic landscape created by Bollain makes the heartbroken natives fight for their natural resources and precisely describes how such emotional situations dictate the human character. It can be noted that this film describes how the ramification of something that took place many years ago can still affect us in the present real life; therefore, it acts as a precautionary work of art. The movie is very well done denoting how the natives were exploited for profits. The movie describes the current state of the world, where so many citizens are living below the poverty line, and yet they are obliged to high rates of taxation. Privatization of natural resources makes life unbearable in poverty-stricken countries as described in the movie, Even the Rain.
