The survivors go ahead by urging world to join JDRF in the campaign to curb diabetes. According to the commercial, JDRF medical scientists are ever attempting to come up with a cure for the disease. Apart from commercials on the campaign against diabetes, Ispot TV is also at the forefront in giving medication guidelines and procedures (“Ispot TV”). Describe where the representation is located Most of Ispot TV commercials are US based because the largest organizations campaigning against diabetes include American Diabetes Association (ADA) and JDRF, which are located in Alexandria and New york respectfully. ADA is an organization whose main objective is to not only eradicate diabetes but to ensure that the patients receive proper medication (“American Diabetes Association”). Apart from sponsoring debates television commercials via Ispot TV, the organization also has a number of methods in which it passes information to the public on matters relating to diabetes. Some of the methods used by the company in creating awareness include diabetes expo where apart from free screening; people receive education on how to prepare food for diabetic patients. Conversely, JDRF main objective is to eradicate type 1 diabetes. To achieve the mission, JDRF has a number of programs that it uses to create awareness of the disease (“JDRF”). For instance apart from sponsoring diabetes type 1 commercial on Ispot TV, the organization holds events such as walk to cure diabetes that in addition to creating awareness, the events is also used as a media to raise funds that are directed to treating diabetes patients (“JDRF”). For instance, Ispot TV commercial that was sponsored by JDRF goes on to reveal how scientists are ever attempting to find a cure for the disease in order to relieve families the burden of financial constrains they normally go through just to ensure that patients receive required medication (“JDRF”). Through this revelation, it is evident that the organization’s goal of eradicating diabetes is likely to be fulfilled. The commercials go ahead to reveal that diabetes patients normally go through a lot of pain. For instance, the commercial sponsored by JDRF, the victims give stories of when they were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and their experiences with the disease (“JDRF”). How is it represented? In the commercials, some of the diabetic patients reveal that they were diagnosed with diabetes from as young as eighteen months and some have survived with the disease until old age. Through these revelations, Ispot TV came up with a number of symbols that represent diabetes. One of the most common symbols used to represent diabetes is the hand symbol. The hand symbol, which is usually wide open with all the fingers straightened, normally symbolizes action time, whereby people in all continents should put their differences aside and come together with one course, which is ensuring that diabetes is eradicated (“Ispot TV”). Apart from the hand symbol, Ispot TV also has Bret Michaels, the American musician and songwriter as the ambassador of diabetes. This is because apart from being an ambassador of diabetes, Bret is also a victim of diabetes, hence was the right person for the role (“Ispot TV”). How is the representation made to seem true? The main reason why many companies have come out in a move to create awareness about diabetes is that a lot of people either play ignorant or they actually have no idea about the disease and its effects. It is because of this reason that Ispot TV took the challenge of airing diabetes commercials in a move to ensure that people not only become aware of the disease but also take part in eradicating the disease by participating in events such as walking to raise money for diabetic medication. People should also attend functions such as diabetes expos where apart from receiving free diabetes screening, they also get the opportunity of receiving training from professional nutritionists on how to prepare food for diabetic patients (“American Diabetes association”). For people to realize that diabetes is real and causing many deaths annually, Ispot TV came up with a new method of awareness, whereby instead of normal commercials, they used real diabetic people who tell the story of their lives living with the disease, their experiences and hardships. This method normally creates an impact because it enable people who belief that diabetes in not real change their mind about the belief. For instance, the commercial where Bret Michaels alongside other diabetic people talk of the experiences and difficulties they have encountered living with diabetes (“Ispot TV”). The commercial was realistic because it enabled people realize that anybody can contact the disease irrespective of one’s age, gender or race. Whose representation is it The main objective for the numerous commercials by Ispot TV is to ensure that people are aware of the disease. This is because when more people react positively to the commercials; organizations such as American Diabetic Association and JDRF stand a much higher chance of finally achieving their goal of zero diabetic cases in the future (“Ispot TV”). When people are aware of the disease, these organizations will receive more donations and as a result, this will lead to more research on the cure for diabetes. Whose interests does it reflect? Ispot TV commercials benefit a number of individuals and institutions. For instance, the main beneficiaries of the diabetes commercials are diabetes victims themselves. This is because through the commercial, the victims are in a position to obtain more education on how to live a long and healthy life with the disease. The commercials also help families that have diabetic patients by ensuring patients takes the appropriate drugs and not wrong ones that could result to more health problems such as pancreatic cancer. Apart from proper medication, the family also receives education on how to prepare food for a diabetic person. The commercials also help in the recognition of efforts done by organizations such as ADA and JDRF because more people will not only be taking part in the donations but also participating in events hosted by the organizations such as diabetes expos. The commercial then educates people who were ignorant about the disease’s existence, hence creating more awareness on diabetes. Conclusion Ispot TV is company located in New York City and it responsible for the production of real time commercial advertisements on a number of fields such as business, health and sports. However, due to the high number of diabetic cases, the company has joined other organizations like ADA and JDRF in the campaign to eradicate diabetes. The main role played by Ispot TV is advertising television commercials on diabetes and its effects. This is in a move to create more awareness on diabetes because according to research, many people do not have enough education on diabetes and its effects. Through the commercials, Ispot TV helps organizations such as ADA and JDRF reach as many people as possible hence, more people are educated on diabetes. Ispot TV also plays a huge role in ensuring that these organizations achieve their objectives of having zero cases of diabetes in the future. Work Cited American Diabetes Association. 2014.
