It is so sad that something life threatening has to happen to us or to our loved ones to actually bring us back to the realization that life if short. That we are here to enjoy creation and be one with nature rather than immersing ourselves in tones and tones of work never stopping to breath and take in the many possibilities that are around us. Tim McGraw sings in the song “Live like you were dying” of how he met a man in his early Forties diagnosed with a life threatening disease and with only a few days to live (McGraw).

This man takes life a stride and lives life large doing all the things he wanted to do thinking he would always have time. Loving deeper and strengthening all the current bonds that he had formed.This song really speaks to me because in the past month I have been dealing with my own grief. My aunt, my closest friend and confidant was diagnosed with cancer. They tell you to be strong, to have hope and faith that all will be well. Then comes the chemotherapy, the hair loss, the yellowing, the weight loss and my heart was crushed.

It is really difficult to watch as someone who gave you so much strength withers before your eyes. She is now on a wheelchair, fighting each day to live another day with a promise to see life from a different point of view. To live like we are dying.
