4G Technology Name Course Instructor’s Name 11th May 2010 Executive summary In this century, the demands for internet transforms from the usual browsing the net to the use of hastily download and wireless (Communications, 2008). By use of the new arising techniques, 3G’s less speed and minimal volume of download is not able to meet the needs of an individual, hence arise of 4G mobile system that enhances greater speed, minimum expenses, fixed quality and focuses on open wireless platform. Architecture whose duty is to display the usefulness for upgrading the day to day running of business, 4G up to today is being checked if its present speed can be adjusted to 320Mb or if it’s impossible. The 4G technology is one of the systems being seen to be in act in some years to come. Some of the 4G application will be elaborated more. A) INTRODUCTION In this present world mobility has become an essential factor for most people and this is true even in future (Comin, 2004). Mostly a number of individuals are not willing to use an infrastructure that is based with networking, for example mobile phones in use, laptop computers or personal digital assistant to communicate arising matters in a gathering, receiving or giving back email online and that’s the main reason why wireless networks are required in such cases (Communications, 2008). With use of wireless network it’s easier for everyone to be connected with others from different parts of regions at any given time; however 4G plays a vital duty in reaching out mobiles in the future networks. The task for various personnel is to be equipped with more knowledge about 4G (Sherman & Sword, 2009). This knowledge is set to provide an important introduction of 4G’s features and working modes. It’s well known that a SWOT analysis elaborates in deeper details the use of 4G in companies and organizations to upgrade their business (Ghadialy, 2006). 2) Definition of 4G A) Summary introduction of 1G-4G wireless systems The wireless mode of passing information systems are mostly grouped by generation and the main tasks of every generation is as follows; 1G (first generation wireless system which was implemented in 1984) is the voice only analog cellular system. Parts of the bands were divided into some pathways of passing information, of which each of the above could be made active by the subject using them (Ghadialy, 2006). 2G (Second generation wireless system implemented in 1991) it was directed into digital passage technology to be in line with the capacity needs of modern sound services. The amount of data found to be held by the basic 2G networks were presented to be 9.6 kbps. This system developed multi functions compared to 1G a good example said to be caller identity and the most common short message service in short called sms (Gary, 2009). 2.5G (2.5 generation wireless system implemented in 1999) in this type of system all the clients were given permission to appreciate the data counts with a software increase at the base transceivers stations (BTS). This 2.5G was so much in need for extra data performance and access to the internet, subsequently the 2.5G system has accepted data speed of 64-144 kbps that facilitates web browsing in various phones, voice mail messages, exchanging email messages and using fax (RFiD Centre, 2010). 3G (Third generation wireless system implemented in 2002) it classifies data counts basing on individuals clients situations, gives up to 144 kbps for ridding cars, up to 384 kbps for road users and up to 2 Mbps for in active or stationery clients. 3G can take in more tasks like sound and data applications compared to basic differences in transmission technology (Comin, 2004). 4G (Fourth generation wireless system) is particularly made to give a range of data counts basing on the mobile phone or laptop clients situations. This system may contain a greater uplink rate of 200Mbps and extra data may be driven in the cell phones, personal digital assistant or laptop computers. (B) The 4G’S feature. The newest generation of wireless systems that is 4G entails the below advancements (WiseGeek, 2010). Has greater speed and greater network capacity 4G machines price are four to ten times less expensive compared to equivalent circuit-switched machine for 2G and 3G Seamless switching Much flexible mobile networks for example global mobility and service portability Support of broad band services such as multimedia, sound, video and wireless internet Improved scheduling and call application prevention techniques Quality of service requirements C) Functions of 4G; as 4G appears to be top in this modern world, majority of people are unable to fathom what it is and its implications in their day to day lifestyle. A good example showing the various functions of 4G can be seen in a car that uses a wireless remote to open its doors (Gary, 2009). This so called “magic” by many people is as a result of putting together analog cellular network and the global positioning system All the functions controlled or operate by use of a remote are enhanced by 4G system technology. Many individuals still believe that some individuals will be able to own a “bat car” in reality and not in dreams which is expected to take place in near future (Gary, 2009). D) S.W.O.T Analysis; it was performed to display the strong point and weak points, any arising opportunity the 4G system can start to follow and negative threats from outside factors so as to understand 4Gs expected market patterns, characteristics and scenarios in future (Mobile Insight, 2008). Strong points; 4Gs most common strong hold is the fact that there are a number of several telecommunication vendors arising on 4G in the business set up. It enables quicker data passage, bandwidth and greater bit count which raises many business commercialization and applications (Ibrahim, 2006). When it comes to personal use 4G enables very high efficient personalized multimedia communication equipments. As there are different kinds of modern technology like video, sound tools, multimedia and broadband data services that are combined into the network businesses (Sherman & Sword, 2009). As 4G seem to be the leading system of wireless network in future generation, 3G on the other side seem to be overtaken. Basing on open system 4G has excellent global network, its cheaper and very fast (Mobile Insight, 2008). Weak points; 4Gs weak points are fewer of telecommunication based on better mobile data uses (WiseGeek, 2010). It’s faced for raised divergence which is between users and telecommunications vendors and has been noted to be on higher cost to the clients. The most disadvantage displayed by 4G is the fact that its unable to produce whole internet download because of insufficient bandwidth and speed (RFiD Centre, 2010). Opportunities; 4G being a strong and flexible function; it uplifts many market premises commercialization and applications. On economics sector 4G is capable of lifting the level of usage and clients’ confidence therefore it will facilitate global economics, creating more room for advancing telecommunication affairs. Consequently, practicing of e-commerce and m-commerce emphasized through the grown up and sophisticated commercialization of 4G system (Ibrahim, 2006). A higher expectation dictates that telecommunication users will go on with updating their mobile phones by the use of the modern technology at a quick rate. In these present days almost every giver has not invested in enhanced data rates for global evolution, but clients are willing for the greater and quicker data passage. This explains why the future rise of developed opportunities for 4G is high (RFiD Centre, 2010). Threats; As many advantages as 4G has, some disadvantages also can be identified from the network security architectures and security threats (Ghadialy, 2006). In reality, the presences of majority security threats results into clients’ information being publicized and interfered with, this can be caused by 4G’s IP-based and available network. However 3G (2G/2,5G) will lessen the competition in market premises putting in mind 4G in mobile sectors due to former technology’s being used in the market place.
