of the of the Top 5 themes My top 5 themes are individualization, Restorative, Achiever, Relator and Arranger. As I read through the report I could rediscover some aspects of my personality which I had overlooked before or did not pay careful attention to. The themes are: Individualization As per the report it seems that I have a unique quality in figuring out the strengths or unique characteristics of a particular person. Not only that I have an inherent quality in finding out how a particular person has qualities that makes them unique and different from another person. Restorative My restorative theme means that I am good at finding out and resolving my problems. I tend to respect the views of those people who point out my fault and are likely to do introspection to find out about my fault and the way in which I can improve myself. My ability to be able to find faults means that I am not only able to detect faults in myself but also have an intuition on what things other people should improve upon or innovate. Achiever The achiever theme means that I have an exceptional ability and stamina to work hard. Diligence, persistence, and concentration are the three characteristics that characterize me. I have an ability and reputation to work hard when it is so required so that I may be able to compete the task in due time. Relator Due to this theme of mine I usually enjoy very close relationship with others (Ruth, 2013). I have a unique ability through which I can reduce complex vocabulary and complex technical terms into simple words and language. Since I am plain spoken people easily understand my messages and I have a list of close friends who seek my guidance. Arranger My arranger theme implies that I have an inherent ability to figure out how things can be organized so that they can work together for maximum productivity. If someone ever creates an opportunity to create a space for myself where I can showcase my talent I consider him as a mentor of mine although his actual relationship with me may be something very different. I tend to remember his contribution all throughout my life. How you will leverage the knowledge you gained from the strengths report To be a manager it is essential to have a good introspection of one’s ability and trying to find out the strengths and weakness that an individual possess. The ideal manager tries to build his areas of strength and overcome his area of weakness so that he can grow in his career as a manager. A manager should try and identify his strength and weaknesses (Yukl, 2006). While going through the strengths report it was helpful for me to identify my top 5 themes ort my strengths. The top 5 themes were individualization, relator, restorative, achiever and arranger. As a manager it is essential to understand about one’s ability, needs and emotions. As I have the restorative theme that is there as an inherent characteristics of mine I like to do a lot of introspection to find out the areas in which I can improve. As a manager this skill will be essential as because the role of the manager is to continuously do self assessment and go for self improvement. Among the various traits I have it is always important to find out the specific traits that I have which suits me in the role of a manager and then to develop those skills so that I can be a good manager in future. I think that my individualism theme is a great strength that I have and is likely to help me greatly in future role of a manager in a diversified workplace. These individualism characteristics of mine will help me to identify the specific characteristics that exist in a particular person. This will help me in building a workplace in future where people from diverse backgrounds will be able to harmonically work together. Other characteristics and strengths that I posses will also help me in my future role as mangers are my strengths of being a good relator and organizer. Good relator means that I have good relationship with the co members of my group members. I have good way in relating with my co-workers to whom I have an ability to explain complex topics in a simple way and using simple language. Since I have arranger as strength, I will be able to select the persons of particular qualities who fit into particular roles and then organize them in such a way that the task I am intended to do with my group members. However as a manager it is important to remember that a certain theme which appears as strength at some point of time may appear as a weakness at other point of time. For example the particular strength of achiever may sometimes be beneficial if the team members are also like minded but if other team members are not like minded then it would be very difficult to work with the team members. If the team members are not achiever like me then it is possible that I may as a manager find irritated with this behavior of them and this in turn may create tension in the team. Difference with result of the Strengths Finder report It is said in the strength report that as a person with high individualism I have a gift of figuring out the key highlight points of a complicated project or task and communicating the same to my fellow team members. Additionally it is said that I not only present the important factors to the listeners but also do the thing in such a logical way that they do not understand if there is something missing. However in real life this statement does not apply in case of myself as I tend to generally give an accurate and detailed description of the topic rather than giving just highlights as I feel that just giving highlights hinders understanding and total understanding of the topic. It is said under restorative theme that a characteristics of mine is to spend a lot of time in introspection often overlooking the fact that I have to grow my talents. However this is not true. Although I spend some time in introspection to find out the areas in which I need to improve it is not that all of the time of the day is spent in introspection. I do spend time in developing my talents and that part is not neglected. In fact I am very adept in organizing and adjusting my time in such a way that all the areas get equal time allotment. Under the strength finder report in the achiever theme it is written that I spend a lot of energy in holding back my tears as I do not like to show my tears to others. However it is not true. Although I stay focused in the job at hand it does not mean that I do not show my resentment to people when I do not like something. Applying the knowledge from your assessment The strength finder assessment has been very helpful to me in terms of showing me my strengths and weaknesses. There were certain strengths that I came to know from the strength finder report which were inherent in me but were not known to myself as an individual. Having Knowledge of these particular strengths from the strength finder assignment has helped to identify the areas which I need to develop as an effective leader. For example my knowledge of the fact that one of my strength is individualism will motivate me to take those roles in future which will need me to work with a diverse group of individuals. As the individualism trait means that I understand and respect the view that each people are different and exhibit unique characteristics, it is most likely that I will be successful in my role as a manager of a multinational firm when I will need to manage people coming from different background. I will be also be successful in the role of a teacher as the different students whom I will teach is likely to come from various different backgrounds and will have different methods of learning. As a teacher it will be beneficial for me and the students too if I can understand each of their individual learning styles and cater to their individual needs. Another quality that I can develop is restorative. When many persons work together problems are bound to arise (Niemiec, 2013). In our work group too it happens many a times that a problem has arisen and everyone is banging their heads on how to solve the problem. A unique strength of mine as pointed out by the strength finder report is my unique ability to solve problems. This will come in handy in situations where there are problems that arise in the groups. In such a situation, my problem solving strength will come in handy and I will be able to solve the problems that arise. Another skill that will come in handy in case of working in a group will be my relator skills. The relator skills of mine will help in establishing strong relationship with the group members and will come in handy when dealing with a difficult task because at that point of time I will be able to use my relator skills to persuade my team members or group members so that they deal with the problem with a cool head. Still strength of mine that will come in handy is my organizer skills. The organizer skills that I have will come in handy when choosing the group members of my team. Personalized action items for each of your top five strengths Individualization In doing a team work on a particular project we were faced with a scenario where we had different groups of people with whom we had to work together with different group members who were of course different amongst themselves. It was I who spotted their individualities and helped them to understand and others value the characteristics what made them unique. I am good at estimating what individual persons of my team do best and have the ability in using their capabilities in the best way so that it leads to the mutual growth of the company. Restorative Often in group tasks or individual tasks when a problem arises I relish the opportunity and other members of the group often come to make with their problem set and I relish in solving the problems. When I am alone I often do introspection to find out the areas where I can improve and often it happens that if a certain person points out any problem I gladly accept the same and try to improve myself in the area. Achiever I have found in several situations like preparing for an examination that I tend to work hard from the start of the course and do not like to put things on the backburner to look after them at the eleventh hour. I always like to set newer and more difficult challenges for myself. I relish challenges and do not like the idea of sitting idle. Even in instances I do not have something important to do I like to engage myself in doing something that enhances my personal skills. Relator I have very well and close knit group of friends with whom I relate well. In case a complex problem is given to us to solve as a group task, it often happens that I understand the problem at the first point and then take time to explain that problem in simpler terms to my friends. Arranger While a team is formed I usually play the role of selecting particular individuals suitable for particular roles. I usually like to work on multiple projects at a time and find it interesting to juggle by time between them but still manage to do all the tasks successfully. References Niemiec, R. M. (2013).
