The introduction show that the researcher or the author as some preliminary knowledge about the subject of the study and hence in needs to do a broad research or study in order to gain more knowledge. The part tries to describe the role and importance of the subject and by that it offers more knowledge on the study matter. The consequences which might occur due to the failure of the study subject this is meant to show how important the subject is for more study. The introduction also offers a chance to present the aim of the study or research so as to make the reader to familiarize themselves with the goals and purpose of the study or the research, in some instances it further gives the findings of the study and some recommendations based on the study or research findings as provided by other authors. SAQ 5 Preliminary research proposal Research title: the impacts of inflation in the country, case study of Woodley, New York . Background of the problem Over the years the country has been experience a growth in the rate of inflation in the country which have lead to various challenges, the rate of inflation in the country rose from 5.7% in the last year to about 6.2% this year. The increase is attributed to various factors in the economy which includes food prices, rise in income, and e.t.c. The effects of the inflation is highly felt in low income neighborhoods where people have been forced to dig deep into their pockets for a product or goods which use to cost less late last year. Majority of Woodley residents are of low income and hence the consistence rise in inflation affects their livehoods in various ways and it is important that the rate of inflation needs to be minimized if not stabilized to prevent further increase, so that the Woodley residents and the citizens at large to gain through prevention of consistence rise in the cost of living. Research objectives To assess the rate of inflation To establish the cause of inflation To determine the impact of inflation To identify solutions for the high rates of inflation Research questions How is the rate of inflation fairing in Woodley? What causes of inflation? What are the impacts of inflation in Woodley? Which are the possible solutions to reduction of inflation the rate in Woodley? Research hypothesis The rate of inflation in the country is increasing on the monthly basis The rate of inflation rises due to high prices in the food stuffs The rate of inflation leads to the high cost of living in the country The rate of inflation can be reduced if the prices of food stuffs are reduced Literature review These study would carry out its literature review from various sources in order to come up with a comprehensive review, some of its sources would include: government policies, journals, internet sources, business reports, newspapers, international reports e.g. world bank report, IMF report, books and other scholarly writings. Research methodology The research methodology which would be employed during this research is divided into two and they include qualitative and quantitative sources, primary and secondary methodologies: Primary sources include: observation, interviews, questionnaires, literature review, internet, journals, library and e.t.c. SAQ 6 A hypothesis is a possible answer to a research question. It is a presumption or a hunch on the bases of which a study has to be conducted. The hypothesis gives information for the testing of the subject under investigation and help in the decisions to do with approval of the subject matter. SAQ 7 the idea of operationalizing a concept means the ability to transform a general, abstract, idea into something that can be defined and, most importantly, measured the author has followed the given process to operationalizing: Define the concept clearly, define various dimensions to the concept, define various possible indicators for each dimension, design ways of collecting data for each indicator and select indicators to test for each dimension. SAQ 8 The interview technique and questionnaire survey serves the same purpose but are different from each other and also varying advantages from each other, the interview in most case done on a face to face basis while the questionnaire is done in writing, the interview also enables one to observe the behavior of the interviewee a case which is not possible in the questionnaire, The interview enable one to get more accrue more information which might pop up without the knowledge of the interviewer and the questionnaire allow a person to put in questions which they might forget in case of an interview. SAQ 9 In the study the Questionnaires is selected for data collection because they are very cost effective when compared to face-to-face interviews. The questionnaire is chosen as a good tool for data collection because it is easy to administer and the obtaining of information through this tool is quite manageable. SAQ 10 It can be used in a situation where the research or the study would be required to answer certain question about the subject which are who” or “where” questions or “how many” . SAQ 11 Action research is a process of progressive solution to a problem to improve strategies, practices or a working environment. The process of research has to be consistent with the objectives and purposes planned and intended for in the initial strategies. Case studies are advantageous since it enables the researcher to acquire and develop the in depth knowledge and invent addition information for a specific factor or area of which can equally be extrapolated so as to solve problems in other sectors. SAQ 12 The external researcher is to produce a research result that is acceptable and agreeable by all the parties involved without compromising the quality and credibility of the process. The external domain is to foster and nurture dialog between all the involved parties and ensure the success of the project. Finally there is the need of generational of reports periodically in order to aid the development of the final report which may be quite bulky at the later stage of development. SAQ 13 There is a major difference between a case study and a research in that in a case study you are not interested with previous factors affecting the study and the study starts straight away, whereas in a research there a review of any previous information especially scientific which was prior to the ongoing research. For example when the study is about the relations of gender and the salary differences, when the study is designed such that it covers very many sectors involved, then it is a research. However, when the study narrows down to a specific company to study the relationships and variability within that company then it is a case study. In case studies the knowledge and information that is produced remains focused entirely on the company or entity of concern without importation of some knowledge or generation of additional information from other sources. This is different from a research that employs a wide knowledge base by reviewing a lot of information from various sources and pre handled studies. SAQ 14 Case study research can be used in procumbent paper bringing us to an understanding of a complex issue or object and can extend experience or add strength to what is already known through the process. Case studies have an emphasis of detailed contextual analysis of a limited number of cases and their relationships. SAQ 15 The manager must be wary of various factors when preparing or during the process of research interviews which included being bias, intrusiveness, lack of uniform during the presentation of the question, avoid interruption during the interview process and time management is also of essence. SAQ 16 Experiential learning is essentially practitioner knowledge while grounded theory is Theory is usually the result of observation, experimentation and hypothesis testing. The experimental knowledge base is very important for understanding how we can learn from practice in order to inform theory that can help us develop pragmatic solutions to the problems facing our project management is at the heart of building and using experience in the form of experiential knowledge. SAQ 17 Ethno methodology research interest is the study of the methods employed by people on a daily basis for the production of social order. Ethno methodology’s goal is to document the methods and practices through which society’s members make sense of their world while Phenomenology studies the experience of people the perspective of the individuals, ‘bracketing’ taken-for-granted assumptions and usual ways of perceiving. SAQ 18 Researchers will tend to use methods which giving participants degree of freedom and permitting spontaneity instead of forcing them to select from a set of pre-determined responses and to try to create the right atmosphere to enable people to express themselves. This may adopt less formal and minor rigid approach than that used in quantitative research. It is believed that people are constantly trying to attribute meaning to their way of finding and developing new information. SAQ 19 Both forms look for details about preferences, actions, and motivations that are not easily made . Positivist seeks to identify those details with propositions that then can be tested or identified in other cases and the interpretive work tend to harmonize the cases of concern . some of the works combine issues together providing an overall information for the subject matter hence making it hard to understand the nature of the discussion herein. The details when the ideologies are combined become hard to understand hence the learning and research process becomes compromised to a certain extent, While both in the end can comment about general principles or relationships. (Lock, 2009) SAQ 20 The methods would be of importance in the project because the management would require details about preferences, actions , and motivation that are not easily made numeric (Saunders, Lewis, & Thornhill, 2000).
