This report is a piece of research work on knowledge management and its importance in the modern changing business environment and it is prepared based on current academic literature.

Retaining old employees in the organization as a technique for knowledge management has been a matter of debate among Human Resource experts and it was practiced by many organizations worldwide. A number of organizations worldwide find it effective that retaining organizational knowledge of current employees and transferring this to the new staff can bring better results in managing Human Resources.

Knowledge management is a new interdisciplinary Human Resource Management model that involves people, technology and process within the organization. The fundamental objective of knowledge management is the creation of an organizational knowledge base in a way that the knowledge of the members can be better utilized for the overall benefits of the business. Knowledge management is closely related to employee rewards because rewards and recognitions tools have been considered to be methods that encourage knowledge workers to share their knowledge in order to facilitate ‘knowledge transfer from the experienced to less-experienced’.
