The problem in the Case presented is that John Cooper spent numerous years without putting into consideration a number of issues. One was that he left education and joined already established an organization with little knowledge on management issues. It was important because, at that particular time, Kirkpatrick was the senior at the company. He had enormous task because he was interested in opening small new firms. John Cooper had met a very busy person who was preoccupied with numerous issues to address in his career.
John Cooper was very nervous about starting this new relationship with a new person in a field he was very much interested in. Nonetheless, Cooper became very much comfortable regardless of the anticipated challenges. Cooper also had the challenge of learning new ideas, more so, from Kirkpatrick, who had numerous obligations (Purdy & Kuzyk, 2012). He was also having the dilemma of choosing a course to pursue in the long run. This case depicts a number of issues that a person is learning new things must go through to become successful. The major dilemma for Cooper was the development of a healthy relationship that would see him succeed in future, even after leaving the organization.
Summary of the Problem
The study presents John Cooper as a person who has over the past five years and looking at Standard Holdings, the early phases of business improvement and own value arm of Standard Group (Standard). This was a bit challenging because the work was one he took quickly after Business College and became the Business Analyst, which was further challenging. In fact, the idea of having met or being offered the opportunity to work with Alan Kirkpatrick was one of the best experiences to Cooper (Purdy & Kuzyk, 2012). Kirkpatrick was experienced and regarded business person and founder of the standard.
Amid his time on the standard Cooper won extremely rich Kirkpatrick coaching and devotion to the intellectual advancement of the professional relationship. Cooper increased certainty to use their potential ultimately, and after that, he was welcomed to partake in numerous experiences and created a good relationship with every principal partner at Standard. Cooper really wanted to feel that he was prepared for the senior administration much sooner than anticipated. In the wake of accepting an intriguing telephone call, Cooper thought about how to accomplish one’s vocation objectives, and he began thinking about different choices accessible to him within the standard (Purdy & Kuzyk, 2012). He was able to cooperate with those who he found there was able to learn numerous things, which later made him succeed.
Recommendation
This is an inspirational story of a person determined to succeed; however, he is faced with numerous challenges. One of the recommendations is that, when one is confronted with various challenges in a new working environment, it is usually significant to have focus. Through focus and determination, one is likely to concentrate on the most important areas, which will eventually increase chances of becoming successful. Listening carefully to the seniors is what is always recommended for beginners since they also have other obligations to meet, the efforts of the new individual is instrumental. Finally, patience is always recommended for those learning new ideas, as we can see Cooper was ready and willing to learn, and they engaged in endless discussions with the great mentor, Kirkpatrick.
