MSD commonly arise in manual handling of the element at the workplace over a prolonged duration. Yes, the previous set of lifting conditions lowered the risk since it has relatively longer horizontal distance. The horizontal distance is reduced from 18 inches to 12 inches resulting in the strain thereby increasing the chances of the employee encountering MSD.
