An organization needs a manager who has both management skills and leadership skills for a better and quality outcome. Management skills give the employee the organization vision while leadership gives direction. To achieve the organization short-term and long-term goals, there is need for both combinations of management and leadership skills. The manager who is a good leader involves the junior staff in formulating the company strategic long-term objectives. When the staffs is, involve in the decision making there will be minimal resistance to change. Team leadership encourages individuals to have a common interest and work together as a team.
Human skills are an important element in human resource department of a company. All levels of management require excellent interpersonal and communication skills within an organization. Communication skills create a healthy working environment for the junior and the senior staff. A manager who communicates well with juniors can easily influence the employee to react positively to changes in the status quo. In conclusion, managers should be team leaders for them to be more productive to the organization.
