The two directors manage the affairs of the department with the help of two managers and two supervisors for each department. In general, the two departments are further subdivided into two so that below the director is the manager in charge of the line in the department and the supervisor is below the manager with the subordinates being at the bottom of the hierarchy. In the reporting system, the subordinates report to the supervisors, supervisors report to the line managers while the line managers report to their respective department heads. Both heads of departments are report to the nursing vice president.
Just like any other hierarchical organization, MaiMed Center has order of flow of information. The vice president formulates the overall nursing department’s goals then the heads of the various heads of nursing department formulate ways of ensuring their respective departments coordinate to achieve the overall organizational goals. The managers are responsible for formulating the exact course of action to be undertaken by the department while the supervisors are responsible for ensuring implementation of the actual plan on the ground by the subordinates. Information in the organization is both vertical and horizontal. Deferent levels of management communicate with managers from their department and across to other departments. The organization’s management is able to communicate downwards to the subordinate while the subordinate are able to air their views through their supervisors up to the top management.
The organization is located in the outskirts of new York in a two storey building rented by the organization.
