Affirmative Action Initiatives Affirmative Action Initiatives It can be d that America is becoming an increasingly color blind nation as expressed by Korgen (1999). This, however, does not change the fact the biracial individuals should be included with regards to Affirmative Action initiatives. It was found that 58 percent of the US citizens think that biracial individuals should quality for Affirmative action. The US population is mainly composed of biracial groups of individuals and these are becoming increasingly difficult to classify especially in the modern-day corporate environment (Korgen, 1999).

This is owing to the fact that the US has become increasingly dominated by people from the Asian and Mexican decent that have dominated the work force in the past. This has made it increasingly difficult for companies to make out the individuals that qualify for affirmative action. This being said, I think that biracial individuals should be counted for Affirmative Action initiatives based on their lineage and simply not by looking at the color of their skin. This is because looking at the skin color can be deceiving.

Secondly, it is important to look at the social status of the individuals. Some biracial individuals are well-off and may not be in need of the affirmative action. Biracial individuals should also be counted based on where they come from (Korgen, 1999). This is because some of them live in highly marginalized areas and are in dire need of the affirmative action within the work place. Finally, affirmative action should be based on the academic background of the individuals. Some biracial individuals are well educated and may not require Affirmative Action.
