The museum will have a collection management policy. This is meant to document the primary policies that guide the development and management of the museum art collection. There will be the museum website where the detailed procedures for executing this policy will be available. Through the Collections Management Policy, the Museum will make sure that its collections are accounted for and recorded. It will ensure that collections are protected, safe, managed and preserved well. Disposal of art works from the museum by sale, exchange, or any other means will be done for the advancement of the museum mission and profits from such sale should be used only to purchase new works of art. Admission to the collections in the galleries and research rooms and admission to collection details will be allowed but regulated properly. All museum purchases require that the curator suggesting the work of art to be bought creates a detailed report comprising a description of the work, its state, publication background, significant to the museum’s collection, justification for acceptance and purchase funds needed. A conservator or a scientist must study all proposed purchases and give an analysis of the work and evaluation of its state, dating and attribution. This report is handed in to the curatorial department, and then submitted to the executive director. The museum must request for representations and guarantee from seller when buying works of art. This is to ensure the art work has a legal title and is free from any liens, rights and hindrances. Museum Departments Collections The museum collection will be controlled by the curatorial department. It has specialized staff of curators and scholars. There is also a conservation department and a department of scientific research. Collection section will include work of art from Ancient Egypt and classical antiquity. There will be paintings and sculptures taken from European masters as well as a broad collection of American and contemporary art. The museum will also comprise a wide range of African, Asian, Byzantine and Islamic work of art.
