Policemen of the WorldPart 1Introduction There are identified international incidences that contributed to America’s success as a world super power and a nation with the most competent military. Key among the incidences that promoted America’s economic prowess compared to other world countries was the Bretton Woods decision to eliminate the gold standard and adopt a uniform exchange system pegged to the dollar (Daniels & VanHoose, 2014).Thesis After the Second World War America had, economic stability compared to most countries in Europe.
The nation’s economic stability prompted the decision to peg the dollar to gold at the initiation of IMF and World Bank as key institutions. The dollar-standard system of exchange further strengthened America’s economy, hence its rise to a world superpower. Instances of America’s Military Operations Abroad and justificationAmerica’s foreign policies are fundamental in keeping world peace and interventions since the end of second war. America has a vital role in resolving conflicts among nations.
The country’s foreign policies grant congress and the president power to undertake military operations abroad, either to combat global terror attacks or promote peaceful co-existence among warring nations. a) America’s military operations in Iraq in 2014President Obama, on August 8, 2014, authorized a military operation to be undertaken in Iraq (Sciutto, Shoichet & Starr, 2014). The operation involved targeted airstrikes on target areas. The mission of America’s military intervention was to suppress emerging Islamist militants in the area.
Airstrikes targeted areas dominated by Islamist militants in Iraq. Areas such as the Persian Gulf were of interest and target for intelligence missions conducted by US military. President Obama’s decision conformed to the country’s foreign policy provisions of preventing international terror attacks. b) Effort to end global terrorism (Killing of Anwar al-Awlaki in 2011)The American military operations target perpetrators and planners of terrorism as a measure to fight the emergence of militant groups in identified areas, regions, or nations.
In 2011, the U. S. military through its intelligence operations in Yemen killed Anwar al-Awlaki. Based on intelligence information, Anwar al-Awlaki masterminded 9/11 attacks and similar operations targeting U.S interests. Operations conducted in Yemen to kill Anwar al-Awlaki is among the various military actions undertaken by U. S administration to combat world terrorism and are in conformity with its foreign policies.
