Extract of sample "Muslims in the United States of America"

In 711, the Iberian Peninsula was conquered by the Muslims and established a seat of dominion at Andalucia, Spain until 1492 (Crow 48). They also conquered Portugal, Southern France, and the Balearic Islands, and ruled Sicily, a part of Italy for 130 years until 1091 (Hispanic Muslims). Genoa is the neighboring town of Sicily in Italy where Christopher Columbus was born and raised, and was known to have discovered America in 1492 (De Madariaga 59).
However, According to Bourne in 1904, long before the compass and its needle were discovered, the Mediterranean Spanish voyagers who were fearless and strong found Iceland in 867, colonized Greenland in 985, and subsequently arrive at the shores of America (Bourne 4).  Bourne should have meant the Muslims from Spain who at these years ruled Iberia (Crow 48), Portugal, Southern France, the Balearic Islands, and Sicily (Hispanic Muslims).

Conclusion:  Given Bourne’s accounts on the preliminaries of discoveries from 867-1487, Muslims were in America in the 10th century and could have helped shape the society.
