Rushdie explains that the boy came in the time when fate had its implications affecting the whole of his countrymen, who in the past decades, had struggled hard for their freedom. However, the devotion of oneself for the sake of the sake of independence does not help in solving post and pre-colonial criticism. In fact, the implications of the western people’s activities restrict the awareness of freedom for the indigenous people of the East. The birth of Saleem, as explained by Rushdie, creates actualities of human life whereby an individual; is born, grows, and later dies.

As well as, complex dynamic life-involvement activities, which are always changing (Rushdie 109). The children born at the eve of independence like Saleem were privileged to be masters and victims of curses of the dark time of the East world. Colonialism induced privileged aspects for bad and good, which faced the children born in the colonial era, depicted negative patterns and behaviors. These patterns were characterized by defined western culture. They constructed an opposition to the authority and acknowledged cruel tendency in dealing with aspects that involved people in the East world.

Saleem was induced to treacherous and promiscuous way of life that held the real meaning of orientalism (Rushdie 147). These aspects were generated into his life by his grandfather, Aziz, who contained a grimmer of contentment when opposition to the stereotypic phenomenon paved way for disapproving features, which were induced by the colonialists. The facial nudity in Saleem showed the thrilling invasion of secular logic that was brought by the European cultures and rules. The popular superstition and cosmology in Saleem’s discretion had spiritual intervention to mythological figures, an orientalism aspect that was induced into him by Aziz, her grandmother.

These aspects instilled a hierarchical subordination into the domain of political manifestation. Rushdie describes improper and inadequate conventions that downgraded Saleem’s self-realism as misfortunes of poor and unconsolidated worship deities running invalidated judgment upon faith, religion, and Eastern world cultures in all but the same level countries (Rushdie 222). Saleem was assigned duties of assessing Naseem Ghani’s health. He requested to see his stomach whereby he used the assessment from the stomach to draw conclusions of the other disordered parts including mental issues.

The tasks were undertaken under the perforated sheets. He performed assessment health tasks on a number of people including Sanjay Gandhi, who had not created prominent profiles. He also performed assessments on pregnant women like in the case of Amina where he made conclusions from external and physical aspects of her body. Rushdie defines the prominent, but distressful image of Saleem, which was filled with emptiness of knowledge due to lack of spiritual satisfaction (Rushdie 271). Saleem’s tasks were filled with vacuum from inside that could only be guaranteed as assumptions from the basic lack of spiritual reliance.

However, they had closeness to satanic and mythical aspects borrowed the west. The visual diagnosis of ailments undertaken by Saleem was as a result of magical powers related to a hole in the bed sheet. Saleem also described his magical power from the mere association of his name to a body-part
