International Committee of the Red CrossGlobal Movement argumentative essay: International Committee of the Red CrossRed Cross was established in 1919 after the World War I. Its aim was to reduce the adverse impacts of wars while supporting the prisoners and combatants. The basic idea was to incorporate resources and skills in order to facilitate humanitarian activities all over the world. Moreover, they aspire to encourage and promote peace by eliminating human adversaries1. It has satisfactorily performed after the World War I in dealing with different calamities and warfare consequences.

However, few analysts still argue over its performance. Following is the thesis statement for this paper:International committees such as Red Cross are often scrutinized for their lack of support and inefficiency in promoting global peace. However, one should not neglect the positive changes brought by Red Cross.The organization profoundly manages different activities. It makes strategies, manages resources and measures the performance in relation to the desired results2. For instance, Red Cross followed this logical sequence to facilitate the Japanese after the 2011 earthquake.

For this purpose they carried out extensive healthcare programs focusing on the psychological and physical needs of survivors. Initially they identified the outcomes of disaster and the immediate needs of people. Thereafter they recognized that people require a number of hospitals in the country. Hence they provided medical services to around 90,000 people while helping 135,000 lost families. Substantial investments were made to carry out all these activities which were found to be exceptionally effective.

Later performance evaluations revealed that Red Cross was successful in rebuilding the infrastructure of damaged medical buildings while arranging vehicles and transport systems for people3. This substantiates that Red Cross maintains a very logical approach towards humanitarian behavior which has actually enabled it to achieve its desired goals. It has a stated ethical code of conduct which facilitates the organizations in advancing different programs across the world. Since their aim is to promote peace therefore they have an entirely separate division for young volunteers who symbolize their non-violent culture.

In 2008, Red Cross initiated Youth as Agents of Behavioral Change (YABC) to bring positive changes in the society. The young people hired by the organization were responsible to foster ethical leadership while changing the minds of masses towards betterment. Within a span of five years the young leaders were able to promote humanitarian values4. For instance, college students are often negligent of their responsibilities towards the society and sometimes they also act as a threat to the social progress.

YABC actually reduced the negative peer pressure while facilitating these individuals to achieve positive goals. Red Cross has a very sound emotional appeal which makes their tasks easier. People working in healthcare organizations need emotional balance in order to extend maximum medical services to the patients. At Red Cross, employees often come across people who are facing emotional pressures. Hence, Red Cross has a very fine strategy to analyze and evaluate the emotional needs of different individuals.

This subsequently helps them in achieving their desired goals and promoting positivity in the society5. At the first step employees are required to be confident and independent so that people can actually share their thoughts with them. Thereafter a profound assessment is conducted so as to identify the real emotional issues of patients. These are helpful in recognizing different hazards and the actual drivers of emotional imbalance. This is followed by thoughtful strategies through which employees decide how they will tackle the emotional needs of a particular individual.

Maintaining calmness and self-control are the fundamentals to promote positive emotions in the society6.The above discussion reveals that Red Cross is performing remarkably on the international level in promoting peace while bringing a positive change. However, critics argue that despite of unlimited efforts made in the organization there are still certain countries which are facing huge healthcare and warfare issues, hence the performance of Red Cross is somewhat unsatisfactory. This can be argued on the basis of the fact that Red Cross is a non-political organization and therefore it has significant financial issues.

Moreover, it is drastically affected by the changing political conditions and hence it has been relatively unable to promote peace throughout the globe. But with the help of continuous efforts this goal shall be achieved soon. References
